I'm amazed at the start they've had. I thought with so many changes they
would struggle. I just hope they can keep it up

And another change - the Suns waived Lauren Cox today...

They signed Cox and Anigwe to training camp contracts on the same day (Feb 7) and waived Anigwe 9 days later. Anigwe is about the same size as Cox and significantly quicker. But cutting Anigwe may have been them learning that she was going to leave mid season to play for the UK (born in London to Nigerian parents).

Connecticut could also have had Sika Kone off waivers who the Chicago announcers were raving about in her first game.

"Uncasville, CT (June 3, 2023) – The Connecticut Sun has signed forward, Liz Dixon to a rest of season contract, the team announced today.

The 6-5 forward comes to Connecticut after finishing a successful collegiate career at the University of Louisville. Throughout four seasons with the Cardinals, Dixon averaged 5.5 points and 3.9 rebounds. She helped her team to two NCAA Elite Eight appearances (2021, 2023) and a trip to the Final Four (2022). Most recently, Dixon signed a training camp contract with the Phoenix Mercury prior to the 2023 season. She appeared in two preseason games, as well as the Mercury’s season opener before being waived by the team."

Not at all surprised by this news. I swear you could see it ripple when it happened.

Who do you think the Sun will get to (try) to replace Brionna Jones?
I'm thinking Theresa Plaisance... Lauren Cox... or someone else?

Brionna's sister Stephanie? She at least has played with them before.

Big news, guys. Connecticut has parted ways with Liz Dixon. I know it’s hard to believe, so here is the proof.

Listed 6'10" but has excellent mobility for that height. Indiana, where she played in 2021 before being injured, only has 11 players on their roster. Guess Lin Dunn and Christy Sides were not impressed by her only WNBA season . Her stats weren't that great but she only played 7 games at an average of 15.1 mpg. She seemed to have a lot of potential. But an article mentioning her signing says she only averaged 4.8 points and 3.7 rebounds in 6 games of a June 2023 Eurobasket tournament.

Indiana have 12 players on their roster (Saxton still counts, even if she only plays once a month). Hatar is useful but did not look fully healthy at EuroBasket. Clearly playing through knee pain. So I was surprised to see her sign rather than take the rest of the summer off.

Looking at her Wikipedia page she has trouble staying healthy. The Fever signed her for training camp in 2020 but she was injured before it started and missed the whole season. She was injured in the 2021 WNBA season and missed most of it. She was also injured in 2022 that caused her to miss the 2022 WNBA season. The Fever were apparently sticking with her this year for a while as they didn't waive her until June 8th (after six games had been played but appears she still hadn't shown up due to European commitments) after temporarily suspending her on May 18th.

Does anyone know any of the perks that go along with a courtside ticket at the Mohegan Sun? Thinking about going to the PHX game on Thursday.

Connecticut Sun has thrived in a small market. But where does the franchise fit in an evolving WNBA?

Mohegan should build a small airport and partner with all the small carriers to bring in people from small airports like Wilmington and Melbourne lol

"And seven years in, the Sun became the first WNBA team to make a profit."

Not how Donna Orender put it:
In December 2010, Donna Orender said that the league had its first-ever "cash flow positive" team during the 2010 season.

I don't remember the league making similar announcements regarding profitability of specific teams. But there was a mention of the Lynx being profitable in an article, if I recall correctly. And I think a few other teams as well.
