No more Sue Bird commanding the point for the Storm. Does Stewart return? Where does Seattle go from here? Lots of questions this off season to answer.

Will Russell be ready to go next season?

Anyone in the draft that could run the Storm at point guard? Any free agents? Next year looks to be troubling.

I'm very curious to see what Seattle does. I could see them doing a respectable, soft rebuild like Minnesota even if Stewie were to leave but they're going to an elite OG to keep a championship window. What about SDS? 😬

Is 'retirement' an option?

No exit media interview for Tina Charles who is the only Storm player to opt out.

The only surprise will be where does she end up next year?

She might end up hanging out with Liz in the Phantom Zone.

the keep on rolling with this squad kind of realistic with a little fantasy thrown in plan

currently under contract
Loyd 235k
Russell 160K

bring back
Stewart super max 235k
Gabby Williams 125k

Magbegor 75k
Talbot 75k
Lavender? 75k

bring on
Sloot max 200k
Jefferson 100k

draft pick #9
Z. Cooke or Horston 75k
draft pick #18 from NY
J. Sheldon, Miksell, Berger or Brown-Turner

Sloot/Jefferson
Loyd/Z. Cooke/J. Sheldon
Gabby/Talbot
Stewart/Lavender
Magbegor/Russell

variation 1
instead of Jefferson (maybe save a little) on a PG or combo guard
L. Allen, Nurse, Whitcomb or Quigley if she still want to play

variation 2
instead of Lavender (maybe spend a little more) on a post
Harrison, Billings, Coffey, E, Will, Stokes or Zagui B if LA releases her

or consider some retreads with Canada and Clark

very out of the box unlikely if PX is still a mess and she is willing to play for less Taurasi

I will try a more out of the box one later where Stewart leaves and the Sloot idea is just wrong and she doesn't come

TC has certainly burned almost as many bridges as Liz. And she failed on the court at the most important moment. Let's see, she's now played on CT, NY, DC, PX and Seattle. Other teams should have their eyes wide open at this point. She's just not a team player.

Signed:
Loyd
Russell

Stewart- every time she talks, she talks about Seattle as a 2nd home, her loyalty to this organization and culture, and playing with Loyd. We'll see if this is strong enough to resist the pull of going home.

Core players to try to keep:

Magbegor
Talbot
Williams

Prince?

Jade Melbourne was drafted and stashed in Australia just like Magbegor was. She'll get a look, but she's still really young.

After that, it's anybody's guess.

Main priority is getting Stewie back and sign Sloot

I think the question will be who will want her? I doubt if any of the contenders will want to pay her what she thinks she is worth, so if she wants to continue playing, I think it will be on a lower-tier team.

She played on a discount contract this year after being the league scoring champ in 2021. She won't have much leverage to get a max contract next year.

Tina Charles doesn't bug me that much, but I'd still rather see those minutes go to Magbegor. Having Russell back will also change the whole frontline rotation.

maybe we should have a Tina thread on its own. I wouldn't be surprised (disheartened, but not surprised) to see her in Vegas next year.

If this Vegas team is a championship one, why add someone who might upset the chemistry? Vegas is set up pretty well to have team continuity for the next couple of years.

would I do it. no. but then I'm biased against Tina. It comes down to would your prefer to have Stokes or Tina? And if Stokes gets a too big offer somewhere else, you may not have a choice but to let her go. She's certainly the weak link on the offensive end.

LV's weakest point is the bench and has been all season. Why spend the money on TC instead of some credible bench players?

Because TC currently costs the exact same as one single generic vet min bench player.

TC does not play defense so that would be a hard NO. Also who gives up their shots to TC? Aces need 1-2 bench players who can defend and make a couple of shots - not take shots from the starters.

Just wish SEA had a little more luck... Razz

Was hoping that Lauren and Breanna would be able to play at least one year together back in 2016 before LJ retired.. Just like I was hoping Sue could go out on top with a Championship against CON Idea Almost...

But at least Lauren is playing again! Mr. Green
