Janiah Barker (Georgia decommit?) caught my eye the most as a scorer in the 1Q. |

34-18 East with about 7 min left in half
Chance Gray with three 3-pointers.

Typical McD game. The announcers don't identify players. The guards dominate with shooting and driving, while the bigs don't get shot attempts.
Gray and Rice look good. |

She de-committed after Joni Taylor went to Texas A&M.

Cooper has handles and outside shot.
Brady scores on pick & roll and a 15' jumper.
These are just random and incomplete 1H observations.
Betts with no opportunity to do anything except miss an 8' shot. Superficial view: hard to tell anything but she doesn't seem as fluid or athletic as Brink. |

Watkins, the slam dunk winner, will definitely add to SCar's post beastness. |

Jackson, 3pt winner, has good shot.
Another magic drive by Rice. |

That was a great move by Cooper, offered by Dawn Staley in middle school.

Best recruiting duo was no doubt UCLA's Rice and Jaquez, who each won MVP for their teams. I don't believe any school has ever had both McD MVP's before.
Next, I'd say Cooper and Watkins for S.Car.
Betts made one basket in 6 or 7 shots, blocked a few shots. Patterson made one basket.
Buggs has jumper that looks like Larry Bird's.
All this based on memory and no access to stats. Can't recall other player's names who played okay. |

As usual it was a guard fest and while they may be AA's it's due to their offense. But crappy defense makes for some entertaining offense.
I was puzzled why Patterson didn't participate in the dunking contest.
Brady seemed to show good instincts and nice range. I see a high post role in her future.

East’s Kiki Rice, left, and West’s Gabriela Jaquez: Co-MVP’s, both of whom scored 17 points and both going to Cori Close at UCLA.

Which could mean both never playing in the Final Four – though for a couple different reasons, that simply might not end up being the case... I suppose time will tell.

Gabriella Jaquez' big bro starts for UCLA. That was an incredible run the men had last year from First Four to Final Four. Nice snag for Cori Close.
