73-73 at the end of regulation after they review and say LVK’s tip-in didn’t count. Sure was exciting when I thought MU had won. Let’s find a way in OT Marquette.

McLaughlin did have a great game and came up huge in OT. Sophomore Danyel Middleton had her best game in an MU uniform to date going 5 of 10 from the field including two unexpected 3's and pulled down 10 rebounds.

I almost didn't go to this game - glad I changed my mind about that Smile. MU had an 11 point lead in the 3rd quarter that DePaul quickly erased and eventually took a 7 point lead themselves before Marquette fought back. This is a rivalry game and was fun to see MU come out ahead in this one especially after getting blown out at Creighton. I still think MU isn't going dancing this year but it's still fun to see them beat DePaul.

Just saw the replay of LVK’s tip-in at the end of regulation that they waved off after a review. The ball was in the air before the red light appeared on the backboard but they apparently ruled the clock didn’t start on time. Thankfully MU took care of business in OT as that would have been heartbreaking to lose after that shot was waved off.

Shame on the clock operator for not starting the clock on time.

Can someone remind me how many tenths of a second you need to be allowed to catch and shoot?

So with .4 left on the clock in this instance, her catch and shoot theoretically could have worked?

Do the refs have any role in the starting of the clock there? I don't know the rule but I saw a tweet last night saying they have something on their belt responsible for starting the clock. But in any case it's good they reviewed that and I don't have a problem with them waving it off.

You're kinder than ME, haha!

I still don't understand the problem....in the video, it seems to show .4 on the scoreboard, then goes to the game scoreboard, where only .1 is remaining. What was the actual time left? I say Marquette just won it TWICE. Cool

Well they did go ahead and win it in overtime Smile. It really would have been bad for me if I'd gone from thinking they'd won it to having lost the game had they been down by 1 when that shot was taken.

From what I read and heard from someone, the ruling was they didn't start the clock on time so that's why they waved it off. The scoreboard said 0.4 was left before that play and the replay shows the ball in the air before the red light goes on but like I said my understanding was it was waved off due to the clock not starting soon enough on that play. I was more mad about a non-call when Lexi Held mugged LVK on the play with 1.6 seconds left especially after Held got sent to the line to potentially win it on a questionable call in my opinion just before that.

They had another call in OT they spent forever reviewing where they changed an out of bounds call from Marquette to DePaul. There was a lot of time spent on reviews in this game.
