The first few rounds are consigned to FloHoops. It's being played at Mohegan Sun. If the casino buses still ran on a regular basis I'd be going.

Didn't CBSSN or FS1 show the entire BE tourney in recent years?

Might have, but I stand corrected as to how much of it was consigned to FloHoops; tomorrow we start getting action on the Fox Sports numerals.

The first day of the BET has been on their digital network or FLo hoops in my recollection since they’ve had 10 or 11 teams. Then on the second day it usually switches to FS1/FS2 as it does this year.

FloHoops is about as sucky a network as one can be stuck with. I know because JMU has been stuck with it. Forever buffering. Thank goddess we are moving to the Sun Belt and ESPN+!

BY now I'm sure you all know that the Big East Tournament has been on the Fox Sports Platform.

How many teams does the Big East get into the NCAA Tournament? I'm thinking it will only be two teams. UCONN is in for sure whether they win the automatic bid or not (and I think they will win the BET). The question to me is who else gets in? Villanova finished 2nd in the BE and does have the win over UCONN but their NET was over 70 entering today. Creighton finished 3rd in the BE and was upset in the BET by Seton Hall but Creighton has a net in the 30's.
Charlie Creme has UCONN and Creighton dancing with Villanoa in the first four out and Marqette and DePaul in the next four out.
I think Marquette and DePaul are WNIT bound. I think UCONN, Creighton and Villanova would be the only ones considered for at-large bids from the BE - and either UCONN or Villanova will get an automatic bid of coruse.

I haven't been paying attn to the BE but Depaul missing the tourney must be the first time in a really long time.

I agree with all of this. I can't calculate all the statistical variables, but to my eyes Villanova is actually better than Creighton. They have a creative motion offense and a disciplined defense, and belong in the NCAAT. Marquette and DePaul are close but probably no cigar. |

Yeah as already been noted DePaul didn't make the NCAA Tournament last year for the first time in a long time.
I just don't see 3 BE teams getting into the tournament. It could be an anxious wait for the Selection Show for Creighton and Villanova (assuming they don't pull off another big upset tonight of course).

I've watched a lot of P5 basketball this weekend. The BE deserves to get 5 teams in the NCAAT.

The American is ahead of the BEast in both CRPI and average NET. OTOH, much of that is due to Butler dragging the BEast down. The American has no teams outside the top 200 in NET.
The American is actually ahead of the B10 in CRPI

Really horrible teams can do a lot of damage in dragging down the entire conference. The Big Ten is strong enough at the top and average in the middle, but the bottom is just god awful with Wisconsin and Illinois in the NET 200s.

Another reason I'm hoping Butler makes a coaching change. And this stat you bring up is also why I don't think the BE will get many at-large teams in the NCAA Tournament.
In the interest of full disclosure, I think 'my team' Marquette belongs in the WNIT. There's nothing they did this season that could make me argue they deserve to go to the NCAA Tournament.

This Marquette team is an athletic wing from being a top 25 team, which oddly enough, most BE teams are that player away.

Yeah they have one legitimate 3 point threat and obviously teams know that through scouting. That cost them in quite a few games. They have other weaknesses also but the outside shooting was a big one.

I think all the P5 conferences have at least one or two teams that are terrible, so maybe it's just a matter of HOW terrible.
edit: ok I see what you mean. But B1G also has Rutgers and PSU worse than most other bad teams on the P5s so it's not just Wisconsin and Illinois.

Marquette being 0-8 against quadrant one teams will probably keep them out

Oh I know they have zero argument to be dancing this season. I looked up information on when the WNIT will announce their bracket a few weeks ago realizing they weren't an NCAA Tourney team this season.

Okay, Big East fans, how do we fix this conference? Because our TLAs are a hot mess and make our good teams look bad to people who can’t be bothered to watch anything that isn’t on an ESPN channel. Our bad teams are so bad. Is there a way to put pressure on the schools in the bottom half of the standings to please kindly get their shit together so they stop screwing over the rest of the conference? (I’m mostly looking at you, Butler and Georgetown, but where I can take action is St. John’s.)

I'm really discouraged that Butler hasn't taken any action since the season ended. I'm going to be very upset if they don't make a coaching change. Marquette appears to care more about Women's Bbball than the teams at the bottom but there's still more I'd like to see them do. At least they made an awesome hire when Kieger left a few years ago.
As for the post about Val Ackerman, I do think that may have had some influence on getting some new female coaches hired at least. At one point Kieger was the only female coach in the league - now at least you have Villanova and Xavier with female coaches along with Marquette.

This is an inspiring thought, here in our democracy, that we might effect changes in such institutions. Unfortunately, they generally don't poll a conference's fans, nor let them vote on such matters.
From where I view life, these concerns we share with the game we love are only rectified by the Almighty Dollar. "Money, money, money....", Abba told us.
This fact is a huge part of why The Legends in our sport (Pat, Geno, Tara, etc.) are to be highly revered for taking on the task of bringing relevance to places where money was scarcely allocated, and making those programs National Powerhouses. NOW, in this era, it's as if not even an Exceptional Human can effect those kinds of changes - unless there are bunches of money already in place. jmo.
