MSU leading 23-21 at the end of one Q.
Four different MSU players have drained 3s, some from over the horizon.

ND up 36-34 at the half.
MSU stopped making 3s.
MSU has done an excellent job of getting back on defense and disrupting ND's fast break. But the Spartan's shot selection is frequently suspect, and there is a LOT of 1-on-5 offense. Not really atypical for a Suzy Merchant team, but Nia Clouden is no Ariel Powers.

ND has settled down (probably got chewed out at halftime) and has opened up a ten pt lead after 3 and a half minutes of the 3rd Q.
Classic MSU- Clouden drove baseline into traffic, forced a shot, ND got the rebound and Clouden makes a silly frustration foul.

Merchant called a TO, and must have said something right, as MSU closes it to 2.

What nice freshmen ND has this year:
Miles: almost a triple-double: 11 points, 11 rebounds, 8 assists
Citron: 29 points

Add in Natalija Marshall and Madelyn Westbeld as sophomore forwards (who did well in this game) - I think we'll be seeing a lot of Notre Dame wins.

Marshall is actually a redshirt freshman. She was out injured last year.
They played all three freshmen together for stretches today, and it was effective. An argument can be made that those three plus Westbeld, plus any one of Mabry, Peoples or Prohaska depending on circumstances, is ND's best lineup.
Marshall needs to get rid of a tendency to get carried away with herself. She makes a couple baskets and then looks like she feels invincible and forces a couple of shots that just aren't there. She'll learn. And she'll feel less need to take those shots as she earns more playing time.
