CALLING ALL TIPSTERS!!

Board insiders tell me our venerable Calbearman is not yet 'available' to do his usual thing with the annual Tipping Game contest. I am all for continuing in this tradition, and AM willing to *help* get this season's iteration up and running.

BUT. Who wants to play? No point in starting it up, if we don't have a reasonable number of participants. And who might wanna share in the admin part of this game, creating game slates, tabulating results, etc.?? I'm not great at that, but will try. I do believe I could get things started by this coming weekend, or by the weekend after Turkey Day, at the latest.

Anybody out there?

Certainly there are more of us presciently Pilightish perspicacious prognosticators of player performances that might extend our skills to picking game outcomes, than the few already committed here. Myrtle? Adam? Shocked

Perhaps we can give it a trial run and see if people join the bandwagon once we have a list of games? Even if we only have a few people for the first week or so, I'm sure people will join as we get the ball rolling.

Fair enough. I'll put up a short slate of some *biggie* games here, with picks needing to be made by Saturday night -- no dilly-dallying! Razz

Sunday, 11/21

Baylor @ Maryland
Texas @ Tennessee
Stanford @ Gonzaga
Alabama @ Duke
Oregon vs. South Carolina*

Monday 11/23

Quinnipiac @ George Washington

Tuesday, 11/23

Tulane @ Louisiana State University
St. Bonaventure @ Niagara**
George Mason @ American University
Utah State @ BYU
------------------------------------------
*this game is yet TBD, but most probable; if it doesn't occur, all participants are given the point.

**Okay. There's a coupla NON-biggies. Laughing

We can count this as a Trial Run, and not keep running totals until we know our full roster of contestants.

I'm tempted by the Duckies, but the safe bet is that South Carolina is healthier than Oregon. Pew Pew and Rogers may still be out for that game.

Since when is George Washington orange?

Also, boldly picking the Ducks against South Carolina in a game that might not happen? Bold strategy when they are definitely without Pao-Pao, Rogers, and potentially without Sabally. I'm not even sure they'll beat Oklahoma at this juncture.

That's GOLD (or the closest thing available here)!

Well, it's really win-win then....as I said, if they DON'T get to play SC, then everybody gets the point. And since when was PaoPao definitely declared a no-go?

Pao Pao apparently didn’t make the trip to the Bahamas and is staying behind in Eugene to rehab on an article I read.

Yeah, I heard that in the broadcast yesterday....I hadn't followed any of that saga closely. Does NOT bode well for their next game. Razz

TIPPING GAME: WARM-UP ROUND RESULTS:

With the Niagara-St. Bon. game postponed, there were 9 choices available. This week's winner was the Ubiquitous, Unassuming, Upbeat, Underwhelming UNDERSIZED_POST, who correctly named 8 winners in 9 games! Cool

FINAL TALLY:*
7 - undersized_post
7 - Coyotes

6 - summertimeblues
6 - pureform
4 - howee

Clearly, the results were rigged. I have no idea by WHOM they were rigged, but....I just feel it.

NEXT WEEK - Given the holiday busy-ness, I can try to post next week's games by Sunday, Nov 28, for games starting on Dec. 1. I will try to arrange a slate of 15-20 games. I am also MORE than willing to have anyone else step in for this task (Calbearman??), or even make some game suggestions to me by pm, if you'd like.

*Edited to reflect the REAL truth Very Happy

Hold up a sec... as much as I'd love to take the crown all for myself, I believe I only got 7 correct! Embarassed

Correct:
Maryland, Stanford, Duke, SC, American, BYU, LSU

Incorrect:
Texas, Quinnipiac

NA:
Niagara/St. Bon.

Ha -- I TOLD ya so! Thank you for clarifying quickly, before Coyotes could launch a full-blown inquiry/audit.

I should clearly win the title since Howee tried to rig the results against the mighty Coyotes!

In any case, Howee, is 4 the best you can do!?!?! Surely, you’d do better if you flipped coins for your impossible homerism at Oregon?

Awrighty then, my tipsy little Tipsters: LET THE GAMES BEGIN! Here it is, The Official Round One of the season. Pay close attention as there's a new twist, 'bout in the middle.

Tipping Game: Week 1

Wed. 12/1

WV @ Kentucky
Dixie St. @ Utah St.

Thu. 12/2

Notre Dame @ Michigan St.
Michigan @ Louisville
NC State @ Indiana
James Madison @ George Washington
Iowa @ Duke
Iowa St. @ Louisiana St.

Fri. 12/3

Kansas St. @ South Carolina
Ayoka Lee vs. Aliyah Boston*

Sat. 12/4

Cornell @ Niagara
Miss. St. @ Oklahoma

Sun. 12/5

Notre Dame @ UConn
Tennessee @ VA Tech
Texas @ Texas A&M
Southern Miss @ South Alabama

*Okay. For Friday's game, don't select a 'winner' between K-St. vs. SC - there's not a great chance it'll be much of a contest. Regardless, I didn't want to ignore this game, as it features 2 of our premier centers in Ayoka Lee of The Jayhawks and Aliyah Boston of The Gamecocks.

For your selection on that date, CHOOSE THE PLAYER THAT WILL HAVE THE MOST COMBINED POINTS AND REBOUNDS TO EARN ONE POINT. Then, decide how many points & rebounds you predict the HIGHEST scoring/rebounding number will be for whichever player has the most (regardless of your pick) and if you come within 3 either way, you'll earn an extra 5 pts, EVEN IF you didn't pick the correct player. Very Happy

For example: if you pick Ayoka to have the highest number, and she has that, you get one point. Then, predict a total. I'll say 12/9. This is the number of rebounds and points I'm predicting EITHER gal gets, so if I picked Ayoka, but Aliyah gets 13/10, then that's the winning total: 23.I still get 5 pts, cuz my total (21) was within 3 of the actual (23). **

**Calbearman channeled this to me via a very disturbing dream.
