I am extremely grateful that other schools are following protocols and not again exposing Duke players to a dangerous virus. I stand by the Duke players' decision to cancel last season after being exposed by an opposing team. My heart is with every person facing longterm disability due to this virus.

More cancellations in the Big East as Butler's Covid pause continues and Seton Hall and Villanova now have Covid issues:

I watched a game today where most of one team were wearing masks. I assume it was part of coming out of covid protocol. But for the most part they either had their nose exposed, or simply had the mask around their chins. If I'm the opposing team who is supposedly being protected by this asinine behaviour, I think I would encourage my team to walk off the floor.

The game is postponed already. Window or not Collen knew better and even so Texas is not even that good unless it’s smith with the virus? Cool

States don't have to follow the CDC's new five day quarantine recommendation. Connecticut, for example, still has a 10 day quarantine.

UConn has had about five players test positive since the holiday break. They still have four injured players, leaving only eight available to play. The Big East has a rule that there must be seven players available to have a game. So, if UConn has two players in the Covid 10 day quarantine window, which apparently they've had for a while, they can't play a Big East game. Four UConn Big East games in a row have now been canceled.

Thanks for sharing!

Look, trying to evaluate resumes and weight wins and losses in light of so many cancellations and player un-availabilities is exceedingly difficult. So I certainly don't envy the selection committee's job. But does anyone else fear their vague policies/criteria will just mean that the big-name programs get the benefit of the doubt in terms of seeding while other programs... won't?

Sorry St. John's got shut down also. Marquette's game at Creighton for tomorrow is on for now and they did fly out to Omaha tonight. But part of me still expects it will be canceled.

Hawaii men's and women's three cancellations each in a row. 12/30 through 1/6. Make that four in a row for the men as they pulled out of their own Diamond Head Tourney final game on Christmas day.

Let's see if either can sport a team this Saturday 1/8.

Link for the above: https://gamecocksonline.com/news/2022/1/23/womens-basketball-gamecocks-to-host-rebels-not-huskies-thursday-night.aspx

South Carolina will be playing a rescheduled game against Mississippi instead.

Shocked But I guess Geno was happy to cancel it based on the way his team is playing w/o Bueckers. It was bound to not be a very pretty game.

I can’t help but wonder how the conversation would be had Geno rescheduled to focus on his conference games Rolling Eyes

And yes, I’m sure geno wasn’t mad about it.

I don't care. I was looking forward to one of the few games vs a top-tier team on the schedule.

I don't get thrills from beating the SHs and St Js of the world, no matter how shitty UCONN is at the moment. Nothing wrong with getting your ass kicked, imo.

Well, there's that....AND the fact that SC already beat them earlier in the season WITH Bueckers on board.

South Dakota’s game at Western Illinois will not be played to. WIU gad a couple positive tests earlier in the week, and then 2 more last night, so they only have 6 players available. Summit League is deciding how to proceed with a re-schedule or a forfeit.

ND@UVA will not be played this Tuesday (last potential date). UVA will get a forfeit loss and Notre Dame a win for conference purposes. The game was originally skipped because of Covid at UVA.

ND will clinch 4th place and a double bye in the ACC Tournament by winning either one of their last two games against Clemson and Louisville.
