I was thinking about players who miss a lot of games. Who would be on your All Absence Team? Off the top of my head, I came up with:

C - Cambage
F - Delle Donne
F - Chiney O.
G - Powers
G - Jefferson

So given Jefferson's presence, since she actually played a full season this year, this is in general?

Angel McCoughtry, with her 2+ seasons missed with ACL tears, has to be on something like this. Perhaps McCoughtry could replace Jefferson – the player who injured McCoughtry initially and proceeded to deal substantial damage to McCoughtry's career to begin with. Confused

The All WNBA teams are traditionally the last awards announced. We still have the Sportsmanship and Community Leadership awards to come as well.

I thought they would at least be announcing the ROY Award in that first round, especially if it's going to Onyonwere.

If the game had been in New York they probably would have

I don't pay attention to commercials. Still, you can usually get the gist even if you're only half-watching. That one threw me for a while. I couldn't figure out how it started with astronauts and ended with Cardi B. Smile

right before Cardi B they show Sha-Rock who is considered the first female rapper ever, so it is keeping up with the pioneers to super stars theme.

Yeah, I get it. But it goes from women pilots/astronauts to scientists, and then there's an abrupt transition to a brief shot of Sha-Rock. That's followed by the attention-grabbing clip of Cardi B winning a Grammy. I understand the theme, but it's still a conceptual non sequitur. Call me old fashioned, but we don't usually speak in the same breath about astronauts and scientists with a rapper who is a former stripper with fake boobs.

Sha-Rock and the Funky 4+1 doing "That's the Joint" SNL in 1981 was my first real exposure to Hip Hop

I think Carter deserves to be on the list because I am an impossible homer.

Wouldn't an All-Absent team be the players who didn't report?

I'm flattered at your opinion of our reserves, to rate them higher than Meesseman or Moore. I wish I had your optimism that Asia Durr will recover from her fight with COVID and be better than ever.

Expectations are part of the equation. We don't really expect foreign players to show up every year. The best are Australians, but even they skip seasons. Cambage doesn't get a pass for two reasons: 1) she was a #2 overall pick so you would expect that Tulsa did their due diligence to find out if she wanted to play for them; 2) at times, Liz has led people to believe she is coming only to bail at the last moment.

Also, I was referring to career absences. Four of those Liberty players are 26 or younger and have played no more than one WNBA season. I don't think the team has ever planned around Han, Raincock or Johannes. We knew fairly early that they weren't coming. Willoughby is in her second year, so you can't say absences are a chronic problem. And Durr has missed two years as a victim of a worldwide pandemic. That's sort of in the "acts of God" category.

That would be my guess. But their problem was trying to do too much in a 30 to 60-second commercial (I think I've seen two versions). Commercials need to be thematically clearer because you don't have the full attention of your audience. People use these breaks to grab a snack, take a pee, or check phone messages. The producers were trying to celebrate achievement through a compressed history of female firsts in disparate professions. That's just too wide of a scope for the time allotted.

Little known fact—Alan Shepard, who was the first American to travel into space, and walked on the moon in 1971, also had fake boobs.

I would never accuse him of just trying to troll NY fans, no.
