It's official...

#SparksWillFly

So now we have two players going around using the "Hollywood" moniker? But, of course, it was I who christened Liz, didn't I? I'm gonna have to come up with a new name for Big Momma. I've already used "Shaq Momma," but that does not really resonate with her game. Hhmmm ...

Carter actually uses it as her Twitter name, so I would say she has definite dibs.

But, do we, though? You said yourself, you're the one who started calling Cambage "Hollywood Liz." If nobody outside of rebkell calls her that, is she really "going around using it"? I mean, just because people want to project that upon her...

I went team-by-team and laid out where they all stand at the moment, now that free agency is largely complete. Details of who has space, which players might be vulnerable in camp, which teams can keep 11 or 12, etc etc.

Odyssey Sims and Lexie Brown are still unsigned, right? Can nobody afford them?

Or nobody thinks they're worth more than the vet minimum, and neither of them wants to play for that.

that makes sense

Bird/January
Loyd/Prince
G. Williams/Talbot
Stewart/Lavender
Russell/Magbegor

one spot left for Burke, Herbert-Harrigan or draft pick

Not sure how I feel about that. I was looking for a more athletic PF to back up Stewie. Lavender seems so much like last decade in terms of her play style.

Magbegor will be first post off the bench, and could back up Stewie for a few minutes as well. Lavender probably doesn't get a lot of minutes unless there's an injury. But she's a nice backup in case of injury.

I mean, idk if anyone bothered to watch AU's inaugural season that Lavender was a top player in, but like I said here, Lavender looks as fit as she's ever looked. Too, she has come off the bench way more in her W career than she's started, and she'll be playing with the kind of talent she hasn't had around her really since her LA days. All signs point to her having a good season, afaic.

OT rant but I HATE the AU's stats page. It's worse than the WNBL...which is a BIG ask. Not only does it not show averages, it doesn't even tell how many games a player has played for us to calculate that on our own. Fucking terrible.

I’m with you there. The weird thing is, I don’t recall it being this convoluted during the course of the actual season. It’s like some sort of error happened when they finalized the statistics (such as locating something as simple as Games Played) that made them even less easy to navigate. But even before that, it wasn’t the easiest to. I get that they have their own points system, but A) they absolutely still need statistical averages like you said, and B) few actually care after the fact how many “total points” within their specially-crafted points rankings each player ended up with. Mostly just where on the rankings they finished + their stats.

I like the pickup of Lavender. Nice backup post when healthy. Ezi will get most of the backup minutes anyway

Lavender IMO was a quiet factor in the Sky's success the year she played for us. We were never quite the same after she got injured. She did what she was supposed to do.
