When Michael Balkenhol holds his boyfriend's hand as they walk across Penn State University's campus, it's more than an act of love. "It's probably 75 percent affection and 25 percent defiance," Balkenhol admitted.

Happy Valley isn't a very "gay" place (in either meaning of the word). Here are excerpts from a couple of letters to the editor of the Digital Collegian.

Quote:
...I don't fear or resent homosexuals -- I simply disagree with their lifestyle choices and I would appreciate it if they stopped demanding that I bend over backward to embrace and encourage their behavior.

Oh Sean, didn't you think twice before you wrote: "...demanding that I bend over backward..." Razz

Quote:
If you say anything against gay rights you're labeled a hater and banned. I support gay people; I just don't support their activities of being gay. It's called supporting the law.

For those of you who don't know, it is against the law for two people of the same sex to marry. If you support the law then you are a big, bad conservative who's insensitive. That would explain hippies I guess. Jonathan Bittner - freshman - aerospace engineeringhttp://www.collegian.psu.edu/archive/2005/10/10-17-05tdc/10-17-05dops-letter-04.asp

Hippies? What decade are you living in, Jonathan? Surprised

The Wicked Witch of the West does not deserve to be put in such bad company.
