ESPN aired a nice little piece on "the Lebron James of girl's basketball" - a pretty accurate description judging by the clips they showed. You can see most of it here:
http://sports.espn.go.com/chat/sportsnation/fiftyfifty/index

Online they left out the part talking about her older sister, born blind and deaf with cerebral palsy; and how that makes Elena keep life in perspective. Very touching.

I was just about to make a thread about this. She said her goal was to play in the 2008 olympics. When the 2008 olympics rolls around it will be the summer before her freshman year of college...My question was is this possible? I know the other usa basketball teams have age limits is the senior team the same? Oh yeah, the girl has serious game. Cool

UConn bait, I'm thinking. Can't tell much from the ESPN clip about her defense- yeah, she's 6-4 so she can block a shot- or her passing abilities. And how long before a knee goes ACL? And what's her GPA? And frankly, the fact that Sylvia Hatchell has made her an offer doesn't impress me all that much.

Lets just say her GPA would be good enough to get into the Duke's or Stanford's of the world.

She is a very active defender, although you can't see that on the clips. She is also a very good passer, especially for someone who is 6'4".

Duke, Tennessee, UConn, and Villanova are the Top 4.

I don't think so. She is Italian, though.

Maybe Geno can use that to his advantage like he did with Taurais's mom. Anyone else think Elena looks like Diana?

I think she might be part French and I don't think she looks like Diana.
She reminds me of a girl I went to high school with, Mary Fox, who just finished four years of basketball at Iowa State. Same style of play, some looks, and same number...

Don't think so. I don't think that heritage will be a big factor for Elena. I think that she should go to tennessee, :D . That is partially because I'm a UT fan, and it would also help put together a Tennessee team that would be incredible. It would give CP3 and Fuller more reason to stay for 4 years, and we could see a team that will be amazing: CP3(5th year senior), Fuller(5th year senior), Moore(sophomore...if we get her), Delle Donne(possible 2x, or maybe even 3x HS POY) and McMahan(seasoned junior with a pass first attitude) for the starting 5. With Elena, UCONN would have Montgomery, Jackie, Elena, Tina and Kirsten. I like the idea of EDD in orangre more than I do watching EDD with a UCONN uniform on.

On the lower right part of the page is a gray banner displaying "Motion Video" on the top. Click on the link saying "50 in 50 Looks at the Lebron James of Girl...".
You may need to load their Motion software.

Her brother is a QB on the Duke football team. Think that might help?

She's a decent player. Nice shot and good ball control. Maybe needs to work on jumping and do some strength training.

Nice video, thanks for the link.

I think Duke (or Stanford at that matter) would be an excellent idea for her.

I agree, but I'm still not sure why they're calling her "the female LeBron James". There's nothing LBJ about her. If anything, she can shoot and dribble like Dirk.
