I just saw on MSNBC that two American tourists were attacked by a Chinese man in Beijing at a drum tower. The attacker killed one of them, and injured the other and the tour guide. He then committed suicide. Sad stuff.

It appears it was a Realtive of the US Vollyball Coach that was killed by the Chinese man.

It is a sad and shocking event. This article gives some additional details. The victims were the parents of Elisabeth Bachman (played volleyball in 2004 Olympics). She was with them at the time of the attack, but not injured.

The article includes a statement from Anne Donovan. The team said a prayer in the locker room for the victims.

Local news just said Mrs. Bachman has made it through surgery but is still listed in serious condition.
