Mist sounds like a team that Ionescu would be perfect for. If she doesn't sign on then Ogunbowale or Loyd would also work.

I don’t want to choose a club to champion until I see - at minimum - the placement of the primary stars.

Stewie, Napheesa, Arike, Kah, Chelsea, and Skylar seem like the intersection of alpha/top players.

Inclusion of CC, Sab, or A’ja would change that dynamic. I assume A’ja is a no-go but boy would I love to see Sab and CC in here. Truly, I think it would be bonding as much as anything.

I want to see CC shoot from beyond half court on the regular.

I also am wondering what type of end of season awards will exist beyond champion and 1v1 champion.

I am amused that it is Collier being the one coming forward throwing flowers at Caitlin Clark and pumping her up while putting forth the big offer to her to join Unrivaled after many months of Stewert mean mouthing Clark and stating Unrivaled did not need her. I am guessing Stewert is too proud to go to Clark with her hat in her hand and try to mend fences enough to get Clark onboard with this league.

I also think that this one million dollar offer, roughly 3 times the supposedly max offer to anyone shows A) their desperation as it risks angering/alienating the vets already signed up for the league for significantly less and B) tips their hand that the contract with TNT is heavily performance based, so that if the league only pulls 100-200k audiences, the pay out could be half as much or even less. It definitely shows that something in that TNT contract makes Clark far more valuable to this league than any other player, including the founders and worth the risk of creating hostility from the rest of the players already signed up for this league otherwise there would not be this immediate change in Unrivaled's attitude towards signing Clark.

Even at 16 million a year, with a payroll of 7.5 to 8.5 million a year I doubt the league can break even for its first five years. Other than player salaries there are coaches salaries, referees salaries, trainers, insurance, housing transportation, facilities costs and all the salaries for their front office personnel in addition to any other expenses I might have not thought of yet.

I think Monday and Friday are going to be a tough market share for Unrivaled to get a piece of as the NBA has multiple games on TV and there are a few WCBB and MCBB games they will be competing against. Friday's worse than Monday's as far as NBA games I think.

Are fans in Miami likely to come out to watch these games or will they be played in nearly an empty arena?

If I wanted your "thoughts and speculations" about this or any other topic, I'd go to ChatGPT and input "sorry ass white guy who believes the world revolves around Caitlin Clark." All the hate for every person not named Caitlin Clark is absolutely unreal and uncalled for. I certainly have no room for so much hate.

There's no way CC will play 3x3. She already said no to the US invitation to play 3x3. I think she's focused on 5x5. But it's interesting she's already working in the gym, and we have what 5-6 months before the start of the 2025 season. Laughing

And there's 1 on 1 competition with price money, correct me if I'm wrong. Then, that's Arike's calling. Laughing

Oh my God - Kate Martin is Unrivaled!

For me, I've never felt really excited about watching 3x3. Apparently, others do. Maybe, Unrivaled will change my feelings?

Lived on South Beach (Miami) for two plus years and loved it. Would I attend a 3X3 basketball game in Miami, if I still living there? We'll have to see how it goes....

She already hinted about playing in Unrivaled before the Olympic break.

RAF really is acting unhinged... it's scary. No one hated on Martin, but she is very clearly is not one of the 30 best women's players in the world. You'd be hard pressed to say she is one of the top 60. It just shed more light on that Unrivaled is struggling mightily to fill its roster and yet another inroads to trying to recruit Clark. No one " hated" on Martin except in your deluded mind. Please, seek some professional help.

Are they trying to recruit Clark or are they hoping a Temu version of Clark will make fans happy enough?

And now Lexie. Wowsers.

This is somewhat disappointing for AU as Lexie and Kate would have been great candidates for them.

So nowhere can I find the rules for the game Unrivaled will play.

So it's 3-on-3 fullcourt in a cut-down full court. The games will be completed in an hour of TV time, so with commercials, etc., probably 30 minutes of action?

3x3 full court, though, is liable to degenerate into a series of transition baskets, as any player who's beat on a drive to the hoop will just leak out and head the other way. If one of the two remaining offensive players rotates back, then the one with the ball has very limited options. Maybe they'll have a rule that all three players have to be across halfcourt before a shot can be taken.

Odd to me you can't find the rules.

This whole thing looks unsustainable. 3x3 has always been a hard sell. First season probably there will be curiosity. But this might be a good option for the players with the impending lockout.

Adding six more roster slots - Phee states it is because they have outperformed their financial goals.

Now there are 7 roster slots remaining.

My questions are compounding:

- who are the final 7 players, I would love to see Caitlin, A’ja, Nneka, AB, and EDD on this list but that’s a pipe dream.

- who will be the coaches? I would love for it to be the all time greats - Lisa, Sheryl, Cynthia, Cheryl, Tina, Spoon

- who will be the TV announcers? I would love for this to be Sue and Candace

- what will be the rules?

- how will the teams be broken up? Only one Notre Dame guard per team? Only one Huskie per team? Or will there be some fun throwback combos?

I have many more but this will suffice for now.

I agree if this league was running the usual 3x3 that they use in the Olympics, but it is a new 3x3 format that I think is going to be fun and fast, showing off the athleticism of the ladies. I am very cautiously optimistic and look forward to seeing how it goes!

One thing they clearly understood is that fitting into a convenient TV window is key -- and a nice 60-minute package is great content, especially if it's fast-paced and resembles basketball.

If it's that fast paced I find it hard to believe Griner will make an impact. I don't think they are doing themselves any favors not releasing the rules yet either.

On this point I agree 100%. Right now it seems they don't want to upset anyone or open themselves up to criticism but it is only 2 months away.. They also need to start setting rosters, or at least explain how that will be accomplished. Will they have team captains do a draft? It looks like 6 players per team instead of 5, but what happens with injuries?

I also wonder if they have even figured these things out yet or are they winging it? So far I can't take this league seriously even though I hope it succeeds.

Playing 3-on-3 with rosters of six, I imagine the main thing you do if someone is injured is just get on with it. 3x3 rosters under FIBA are only four players, so they've already given themselves significantly more room to deal with that.

But I tend to agree that there's definitely been a feeling of 'winging it' to a lot of this. Kind of like a startup, it feels like they've had lots of cool ideas without necessarily having done all the boring basic stuff that also has to get done. Like deciding exactly how they're going to play the games, or (at present) organising the selling of any tickets.

Here's a bigger question, where will they practice? There will be ONE 70' special built court in existence, and 6 teams needing practice time.
