Pac-12 expansion: Forget football for now, and go get Gonzaga | Analysis

and they did! Gonzaga has announced a move to the Pac-12. UTEP has announced a move to the Mountain West.

Mountain West members (7 full): Air Force, Nevada, UNLV, New Mexico, San José State, Wyoming, UTEP, Hawaii (football only)

Pac-12 members (7 full): Boise State, Colorado State, Fresno State, Oregon State, San Diego State, Utah State, Washington State, Gonzaga (all sports but no football)

Texas State has announced they will rebuff the Mountain West and remain in the Sun Belt, at least for now. it has been reported that Tarleton State is in deep talks with the Mountain West. also keep an eye on North Dakota State and South Dakota State, as well as possibly the Montana schools. allegedly the Mountain West would like to get to ten full member schools, not just the necessary minimum of eight.

the Pac-12 will likely go after AAC schools again. if not those schools, it is hard to see any other candidate school [with football] that would be appealing to the conference as a potential addition. Sacramento State has expressed a desire to move up to the Pac-12 specifically. Texas State was also linked to the Pac-12 at some point in the past few weeks as well.

UConn was once thrown out there as having contact with the Pac-12, but the Huskies in reality continue to be in contact with the Big 12. even as the reports of their discussions have died down, the momentum apparently has not.

It's become a sellers' market. Both the MWC and Pac each need one more football school -- deals will have to be made.
