My pick is PA governor Josh Shapiro. He could be a guaranteed win in PA for Harris. Any potential Presidental has to win PA to get the victory.

FYI, I think Buttigieg waits until 2028 with Whitmer as his VP.

When Kamala wins, she’ll be the incumbent in 2028.

I think it’s likely to be Pete. He’s the White House’s most effective communicator, taking him doesn’t put a hole in a Dem elected position. He’s a vet, from the Midwest, and doesn’t come the some of the issues the others have. And most importantly, she absolutely trusts him.

I don't know their background, but I did see where Pete has moved to MI.

Might help win MI. Not sure what his husband is doing now. He was a teacher.

Multiple reports are now saying Harris will pick PA governor Josh Shapiro as her VP. Shapiro has cleared his weekend schedule and is expected to be with Harris on Monday.

Interesting....I thought he had been dismissed cuz of some coverup by him of a worker's alleged sex something-or-other. Hmmm.

Being a Pennsylvanian, I kinda thought that, despite him being likely to help carry PA, our state was more likely to go Dem without his *help*....at least moreso than AZ.

All of the VP candidates are pro Israel.

Shapiro’s bigger issues, imo, are teachers unions and the sexual harassment case in his office that he swept under the rug. So if he is the choice, they must think his ability to bring Pennsylvania is more important. I’m not sure they are right.

Ya. And....given the fluidity of the current situation, there's tons of time to backpeddle/revise/revamp one's *official* stance. [ See: T-rump ]

That's almost .... FUNNY! That he should be nixed cuz of a sexual harrassment skeleton in his closet that wasn't even harrassment by him, BUTTTT....The Orange Turd has been recorded announcing his own skill at grabbing pussy, and has Ms. Carroll in his guilty past....and Shapiro might be a problem??? 🤣🤣🤣

Harris pretty much has to get Pennsylvania. No candidate has ever lost Florida and Pennsylvania and gone on to be elected. Of course, if she somehow flips Florida (unlikely) or North Carolina (possibly), that changes things.

Oh. I know.

But let’s be real, standards are much higher for Democrats - especially when the top of the ticket is a Black and Asian woman.

He’s not my preference, tbh I think Walz is the best choice, but if polling shows he gets Pennsylvania I get it. I just don’t think it’s smart to open up doors. (I still really think it’s going to be Pete. Their husbands did a fundraiser together today)

It's apparently down to Shapiro or Buttigieg at this point.

VP

Pete is Kamala’s bff in politics
Shapiro makes the most sense electorally
Nancy wants Walz

We all should probably bet on Walz Laughing

What is welp about the pick, out of curiosity? (From this distance he seems solid and a good complement to KH)

Running mates mostly don't matter. People vote the top of the ticket. The times they do matter are all negative. They can hurt, but they never help.

Was hoping for Shapiro or Kelly. Surprised Harris went with the 60-year old guy instead of someone younger and more moderate.

I believe that's largely been true in my lifetime with one exception: 1960. LBJ almost certainly helped JFK's crucial sweep the south and Texas against the conservative Nixon in one of the closest popular votes in American history up until that time.

Kind of, they are the top advocate in elections. Part of the reason Dems did as well as they did in the midterms was because Harris was an incredible pro choice advocate.

But I agree about harm, just look at Vance. This was the issue with Shapiro. And yeah; it’s not fair. But the media wants to pounce on a Dem issue so badly.

I do think the left needs to take a nice look in the mirror in regards to antisemitism. There were legit issues with Shapiro as a choice, but “he’s a Jew” isn’t one of them. We don’t need a left MAGA too.

Well....by NOT *hurting* your co-candidate, you're actually HELPING them, especially if your opponents are like Vance. 😎

I think he's as solid as any of 'em. I have never heard him speak in any huge public way, so I have no opinion yet on his charisma/charm/etc., but he certainly should make an enormous difference in influencing the (saner) Middle-America demographic.

Though I never heard it expressed by anyone, I did think that Pete - although highly qualified, etc. - may have been a bit TOO charismatic, next to Kamala? I mean, if I went to a Harris/Buttegieg rally, I'd much rather hear HIM speak. Jus sayin. 😛
