Aliyah Boston had 10 of the first 12 games in 2023 shooting more than 60% from the floor in 2023. In 2024 0 of 12.
Some of these WNBA games is like watching South Carolina versus Vanderbilt.
Dijonai Carrington didn't start at Baylor but she can do better than Clark in a game in the pros because of superior quickness. Guards like Ionescu and Clark come out of college as super stars and are labeled "generational talents" but don't have superstar WNBA guard quickness or big long arms like Taurasi. You can end up with worse shooting in the WNBA since the athleticism level is high and players who had that much athleticism didn't have to be too concerned with their outside shooting at lower levels in order to get in the game and do well. Then these athletic players, aided by hand checking and 6 fouls, can stymie the less athletic but better shooters.
Although the WNBA is very liberal on calling fouls on defenders when an offensive player drives and gets near the basket. At that point any contact is a foul on the defense including if initiated by the offensive player. This slows the game up as we sit and watch two foul shots and the starters get to rest and lengthen their minutes.

Christie Sides has decided to play Celeste Taylor before the 1 minute mark in another Indiana blowout. She also played Clark very little in the second half. ??

Just looking at the box score, Clark had four fouls - don't know when. Not her best shooting night, but it wasn't just her.
At least Boston got a double double - the team's only highlight.

Even after they’ve gotten more rest between the last couple of games, the Indiana team aren’t showing even a little bit of a sign of improvement. I’m all for bringing in a new head coach before the Olympics break.

Maybe not, but you can inspire it.
I'm not sure who I'd replace her with, but it would kind of maybe be nice to have someone new. Give them the Olympic break to get this team headed in the right direction before it all crashes down on them.

Fever were 5-8 last year versus 3-10 this year. The 13th game last year was the start of an 8 game losing streak.

Dump Christie? Noooo . . . .
In the five years before Sides became coach last season, the Fever had records of 6-28, 13-21, 6-16, 6-26 and 5-31. They were a longtime stinkeroo with crummy players. In her first season as coach, Sides improved the record to 13-27.
Now, after 13 games of her second season, Sides should be dumped? No, give the girl a full season to take her measure. Soph Boston has regressed as an effective shooter for reasons unknown and Clark is still adjusting as a rookie. |

And what would Indy's record be with a better coach?
They've played the toughest schedule and, I think, the most games.
They have a flawed roster with three starters who range from below average to awful on the defensive end, no depth or shooting off the bench, and in addition, are pretty inexperienced.
What coach is going to turn this group of mismatched toys into a .500 team?
