Jimmy Carter in hospice care.

Quote:
"After a series of short hospital stays, former U.S. President Jimmy Carter today decided to spend his remaining time at home with his family and receive hospice care instead of additional medical intervention," the charity, created by Carter and his wife Rosalynn in 1982, said in a statement.

Former New York Yankees first baseman, Joe Pepitone, at age 82.

FWIW, he was probably the first MLB player to bring a hair-dryer in the team clubhouse, even though he was prematurely bald, but he wore large hairpieces. He was also the target of several locker-room pranks, according to Jim Bouton's book Ball Four, including a hair-dryer incident, and another involving what Doug Rader did to Joe's birthday cake. Twisted Evil

He completely altered his sport more than any other athlete in recent memory and did so not through superior athleticism but superior technique. Before his 1968 Gold Medal everybody jumped one way, today everybody does the "Fosbury Flop".
