Portland will host a women's Final Four for the first time after the NCAA women's basketball committee chose the Oregon city for the 2030 national semifinals.
The other four cities selected for the Final Four from 2027 through 2031 all have hosted in the past. Columbus, Ohio, will hold it in 2027, Indianapolis in 2028, San Antonio in 2029 and Dallas in 2031, it was announced Monday. |
Kind of surprised that Columbus and Indy are hosting in back to back years. Fans will be sick of the mid-west .

Can we get an East Coast city to host? The last one was 2006 in Boston.
And Portland better get its act together before 2030. I was just there in September, and what used to be a great city(so I was told by everyone I encountered) has turned into a lawless dump(what I saw and what I was told by residents).

FWIW, there were no cities in the Northeast that bid for the Final Four. The only cities that bid for the right to host this go round, per ESPN, were Portland, Sacramento, Columbus, Dallas, Indianapolis, San Antonio, and Tampa. The NCAA can't really take the Final Four to the Northeast if there are no cities interested in hosting it. On the bright side for you, Bart, you're only five hours away from the Final Four in 2024, hosted by Cleveland.

Sacramento and Dallas should have been disqualified automatically due to their convention centers being located too far from the arenas. |

ok, but closer to the Atlantic Ocean than someplace like Albany. Do you think Bart would call Albany an East Coast location?

Yes, Albany is the East Coast, but you can't have a FF there.
And Florida isn't the east, it's the south.
East Coast Cities are NY, Boston, Philly, Buffalo, DC, Newark, Hartford...

I figured nobody bid, but I wish they would. And, yes, I can't wait for Cleveland. It's such an easy drive, too. I mean, how cool if NY bid and had it as MSG? Penn Station is below it so transportation is easy, tons of hotels, it's *almost* in midtown which generally starts at 34th St. and MSG spans between 31st & 33rd, and NY is the greatest city in the world. What a showcase for our sport.

It's not cities or states that bid to host the Final Four or other rounds of the tournament, it's schools and conference that are putting together bids. Also Madison Square Garden host the NIT semifinals and finals every year, so they would either have to outbid the NCAA men's committee or have another arena to use.
