Hey pilight, do your team numbers include only people who appeared in games or is simply being on a roster enough to qualify? For instance, are replacement or 7-day contract players who never got off the bench part of your data set? I assume your weighted average is based on games or minutes played -- or are you so hardcore that you track roster days? Smile

The weighted average is weighted by minutes, so anyone credited with playing counts

Thanks, that's what I figured it was but I like to be sure.

As someone who's had to try to count roster days at times this year for salary purposes, I can report that it's an absolute bloody nightmare. The league is completely inconsistent about whether the day something supposedly happened on actually counts in the total. So someone signed on July 1 and released on July 4, for example, could end up as anywhere from 2 to 4 days officially on the roster.

Which is largely irrelevant to everything pilight's doing here, but it gave me a chance to whine...

Chicago has the edge in experience going into the playoffs. Wink

Went looking at the Phoenix roster and surprised to see how old Shey Peddy is.

Be nice if there was an average age for the starters or the rotation players, as there are young players at the end of the bench who won't get playing time.

It's a weighted average based on minutes played during the regular season

The Aces are the first team to a weighted average age lower than the league average since the 2009 Mercury

I assume you meant first team to win a championship?

We could have a three-year jump in average weighted age this year. Do you have the largest year-to-year increase in weighted age for a team handy?

Thanks!

Yeah I seem to have some words out

I don't have that handy. I only have the team breakouts back to 2014 and some of the ones after are missing.

2023 update

As the Rat Man predicted, the Aces jumped by over two years
