Whoever is calling the game with Thulin is SO MUCH BETTER than his normal partner. I've actually not been muting it. Maybe the first Dallas game of the year.

In the ongoing battle of “why must you make it more difficult to watch games?” the YES feed I’ve been Chromecasting from my phone to my television has decided it doesn’t want to be casted anymore. So now we’re watching the game on my phone. Instead of on TV. Which we should have been, but NBA-TV is blacked out. Bite me.

Also, bite me, Marina Mabrey.

Pissing off Mabrey doesn’t usually end up going well

My head says NY should keep losing and get into that lottery, but I still want to be entertained along the way.

If MM wants to get hot as well then I'm good with that.

Seems like they received my script

Sorry, doesn't do it for me.

I don't even really know why I don't like her. Confused

Ionescu has taken more than twice as many shots as anyone else on her team. Some players get criticized for far less ball hogging than that.

Dear Ex-Ref,

Haven't you heard that Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez views Sabrina Ionescu as THE rising star of the WNBA? Smile

She certainly made no friends at Dallas tonight. In the thick of every issue and anyone around her got a technical. Shitty attitude, snarling at the refs at every turn. Everyone has to socially distance themselves from her or she gets to shoot free throws. The Awak foul on her was particularly crap call as Awak hit the ball first and then just a graze along the arm. Normally they like to call that a block, but IO is at the free throw line. Meanwhile you can hear players in the paint getting hit like they’re tenderizing meat and there’s no call. She’s got a stiff arm out and I’ve yet to see her get called for a push off. She falls to the floor trips the Wings big and she gets to shoot free throws. And the crap at the end of the third quarter trying to pretend like she got poked in the eye.

We thought we were gonna see a fight in the 4th quarter, and we woulda been treated to seeing Mabrey piss-pound IO. Instead, I loved what I did see with Mabrey staring her down after each basket she made to put the Liberty away.

The game changed when Vicki decided to put Awak in for defense at the 4 to move Thornton out to bully IO. Could it be a good coaching decision by VJ? Maybe she’s gonna get this coaching thing?

She’s basically learned that getting to the line in the WNBA is an art form. She gets called for push offs about as much as opponents get called for holding her, so I’d call it even.

I made the point after the home game vs. Phoenix that she needed to argue calls more since it seems to work for DT. In her first 30 games she averaged 3.1 free throws per game. In her last 4 since she has become more feisty, the average is 7.8, with tonight’s game being the outlier. She’s also gotten hit in the face twice. Neither was reviewed. And when the Libs are -100 in free throws every year I don’t think I’m going to be too sympathetic when it comes to doing what it takes to get to the foul line. Tonight the chippy play clearly went both ways anyway. And a lot of Sabrina’s actions are due to being held. If the refs don’t call it, then she’s learning what she has to do to overcome it on her own.

And we lost the free throw portion 20-12, which was probably a fair reflection of the balance of play and McCowan’s size. But it’s not like we got a bunch of weighted calls our way either.

At first, I thought I had the wrong channel for MMA. But, uncertain why they only went 4 rounds instead of five?

I can live with questionable calls, the ones that get me the most are the ones where clearly no foul was committed but somehow one is called and those fouls where players obviously got meat tenderized and no call.

No A-Reek-e or no Arike doesn't seem to matter with Dallas.

Time to head for the shitter NYL and the Boston marathon. Why get into the playoffs when there's zero chance of winning it.

And don't sweat it, those Indiana balls will be heavy.

Hmm, I never put AOC and basketball in the same thought. Wink

I wouldn't have either except for reading YOUR posts!!! Smile

I'm a strong supporter of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, women's basketball, the New York Liberty, and Sabrina Ionescu. Moreover, I fell in love with women's basketball when I began teaching at Queens College in 1974. And part of AOC's congressional district is in Queens! (Though, alas, Queens College isn't in her district.)

Laughing...I find it comical how some people are riding so hard for Mabrey even though she's known for being a dirty player.....Mabrey has gotten overly physical/dirty with a number of players this season (multiple times with Diamond)....... Just say you never have/never will like Ionescu and keep it moving...Ionescu gets to the FT line more than most players because teams are overly physical/aggressive when guarding her.

The fans and players seem to get something out of just being in the playoffs versus being a lottery team.

Their coach got the boot last year but New York lost by 1 at the last second to finalist Phoenix in the first round playoff game last year. So not making it is a step backwards. But maybe they have to go backwards for a better chance of getting better from the first round pick.
