I'm gonna guess that South Carolina makes sure that Creighton is cold this game.

Creighton (23-9, 15-5) comes in today with the 22nd-ranked Scoring Offense (74.8 ppg), having played the #32 NET, #36 RPI, and #55 Strength of Schedule (SOS). They will face South Carolina (32-2, 15-1) who brings the #3 Scoring Defense (50.5 ppg allowed) accumulated against the #1 NET, #1 RPI, and #1 SOS schedule.
Further, Creighton brings the #12 FG Percentage and the #10 3-pt. FG % against South Carolina's #1 FG % Defense and #18 3-pt. FG % Defense. This will truly be a battle of one team's offense versus another team's defense.
The Gamecocks aren't exactly poor in offense themselves, although one may never know it from comments here. They bring the #59 Scoring Offense (70.8 ppg) against Creighton's #184 Scoring Defense (63.9 ppg allowed). South Carolina brings the #76 FG Percentage and #171 3-pt. FG % against Creighton's #257 FG % Defense and #300 3-pt. FG % Defense.
South Carolina is led by 6-5 Aliyah Boston and 6-2 Victaria Saxton, and have 6-7 Kamilla Cardoso-Silva and 6-4 Leaticia Amihere as primary reserves. Creighton starts 6-1 Emma Ronsiek and 6-0 Carly Bachelor, with 6-1 Morgan Maly and 6-0 Mallory Brake as their tallest reserves. The Gamecocks are #2 in Rebounds Per Game and #1 in Rebound Margin, while the Bluejays are #190 in Rebounds Per Game and #85 in Rebound Margin.
In summary, whatever offensive deficiencies the Gamecocks have shown thus far, should be assisted to a degree by Creighton's defensive deficiencies, while Creighton will not find such generosity from the Gamecocks in their own offensive efforts.
The rebounding should be substantially in South Carolina's favor - I would think that Boston and the other bigs should be wary of picking up the extra odd foul from the perception of being too bullish against the smaller Bluejays in the paint, and would think that we may see some theatrical presentations from the Bluejays throughout the game in order to elicit expressions of empathy from the officiating crew.
Should Boston and other bigs get into foul trouble, that could turn the tide away from decidedly being in the Gamecocks' camp, defensively speaking.....

For whatever reason, I don't foresee a close one here. Never say "Never!", but....The Midnight Hour inevitably catches up with Cinderella. We'll soon know!

Creighton certainly can't afford to miss 3 close in shots like that. They don't come close to matching up with the SC center. Maybe front her in addition to double teams.

13-10 mid first
Boston 5 pts, 1 reb, 1 ast
Half of Creighton’s points off the bench.

If Creighton wouldn’t have missed three bunnies, they’d be ahead.

Gamecocks lead 23-16 after 1st Quarter. Gamecocks are shooting 10-17 (.588) thus far in the game, so their offense looks to be cooking right now. But they have a history of turning it off in later periods, so we need to keep watch.....

Creighton having no problem penetrating SCar's defense to get layups and other short shots, but they're missing most of them, in part probably due to height intimidation. Meanwhile, since the Jays only have two players at 6-1 max, they can't stop Brobdingnag in the low paint. |

South Carolina's perimeter defense is a huge step up over any team from Iowa

Gamecocks lead 46-25 at the half. Shooting 60% for the 1st half. Boston led with 14 pts on 6-7 shooting, and Henderson has 10 pts on 4-5 shooting....

They’re going to have to put Boston out there in garbage time to keep that consecutive double double streak going.

This is the first time in the tournament that SC has looked like a national championship team

Gamecocks advance to the Final Four with a 80-50 win over the Creighton Bluejays. Aliyah Boston led the Gamecocks with 19 pts on 7-9 shooting and 7 rebounds. That ends her SEC-record streak of double-double games at 27 games, the 5th longest single-season streak in NCAA history. Destanni Henderson added 12 pts on 5-9 shooting, and Brea Beal also added 12 pts on 5-9 shooting. Victaria Saxton picked up Boston's slack with a double-double of her own, with 11 pts on 3-6 shooting, and 11 rebounds.
Lauren Jensen led the Creighton Bluejays with 12 pts on 5-15 shooting, to be the only Bluejay player in double digits.
The Gamecocks shot 28-55 (.509), and held Creighton to 21-56 (.375) shooting for the game, and out-rebounded Creighton 43-23.
Bring on Louisville or Michigan......
