Interesting. It’s hard to tell from that article what data they are using when they are comparing sports. I wonder what the numbers are per player. Football rosters are huge. MBB rosters are smaller (scholarship) than WBB.

Most MBB players who are good enough to attract NIL money are probably in the pros directly out of high school or after one or two years of college. Not so for WBB players. |

Not necessarily true. Michigan men’s biggest social media star is a four-year guy who gets garbage minutes. NIL draw doesn’t have to mean you’re a star in your sport.

Most of the men's money goes to football

Found this in an article about more equity this year after that viral TikTok video last year:
Officials will be paid the same: In December 2021, the NCAA announced that it would begin equally compensating officials in the men's and women's college basketball tournaments. Previously, officials in the men's games were paid more. "All basketball officials, regardless of the gender of sport participants, will be receiving equal pay for championship games officiated in 2022 and beyond," the organization said in a statement.

Hmm! That could explain some of the complaints about officiating in the past.

I wish they'd pay them the same during the regular season. The officiating during regular games has been no less than horrific, and I think probably worse in the mids than in P5, since we share refs with P5 conferences and seem to get the dregs from them.
