Gamecocks lead 33-20 at the halftime, after a buzzer-beating 3-pt. shot from Ole Miss' Austin. Boston leads the Gamecocks with 15 pts on 5-9 shooting in 16 minutes, with 4 rebounds. She picked up her 2nd foul around 2:30 minutes left to play in the half, and was sat down.
Austin led the Rebels with 12 pts on 4-10 shooting, with 5 rebounds. She also picked up 2 fouls, but continued to stay in the game and play. Testimony to each team's depth, I guess....

If only coach yo could recruit shooters around Austin they would be able to keep up with the big dogs in the SEC. Unfortunately she though Snooda Collins was the answer smh. Next year Ole miss will be back at the bottom relying on Madison Scott to be the new Shakira….yikes

Gamecocks lead 51-31 after 3 quarters. Austin with 4 fouls - she has 15 of the Rebels' 31 pts. Boston with 20 pts and 9 rebounds: she's 10-11 at the free throw line. Overall the Gamecocks are 20-24 at the charity stripe, as the Rebels are fouling a lot in this game......

We had some pretty decent shooters around Austin here in MD before she left. Apparently it wasn’t enough to keep her here.

Re-watching the game again, that 4th foul on Austin was a terrible call. She blocked Saniya Rivers' driving layup attempt. The ball, once blocked, caroms sideways to the other side of the lane, where Boston retrieves it out of the air, and quickly flings it back at the basket, apparently thinking the shot clock was about to expire. Boston appeared to be fouled on the arms as she does so, by two Rebel players.
The official calls the 4th foul on Austin, and Boston takes the free throws. But:
1) Austin was nowhere near Boston to have contact with her, so if she is called for the foul, then it should've been Rivers taking the FTs, not Boston. If Boston was fouled, then Austin should not have been given the 4th foul. The official who blew the whistle was looking entirely at the action between Austin and Rivers, and already held her hand up signalling a foul had been committed - before blowing her whistle - immediately after the Austin/Rivers action, and BEFORE Boston took her shot attempt.
2) #5 for Ole Miss did appear to me to engage in contact with one of her arms, with Rivers' elbow as Rivers was attempting her shot, and that could've been the contact that the referee saw, and she mistakenly attributed it to Austin, and not #5 for Ole Miss.
Once Austin realized that she was being assessed the foul, she debated with #5 and another Rebel player about who should accept the penalty, and #5 appeared to adamantly refuse taking the hit for the team, which is an appropriate way to describe it, as at that point Austin was THE offense for Ole Miss - Austin at that point had 15 of the Rebels' 29 points in the game. So #5 essentially sent her team's chances of staying in the game to the bench for the 4th quarter.....
But the bottom line is: the officiating in the SEC stinks.......
