Finally an interesting game.

Horrible game. Horrible coaching by KJH, who needed to call a time out and get the bleeding stopped. Horrible officiating. Horrible announcers.

42-41 TEN mid third
I suppose this is where the wheels fall off for AUB.

Yes, 21 TO's...a big reason Auburn got off 16 more shots than Tenn and how they'll win this game.

The pressure of being a 1 seed proved too heavy a load and what should have been a celebratory evening has turned into a night of wailing and gnashing of teeth.

Is Auburn the team that always seems to have Tennessee’s number?

No, that’s been Alabama, but Tenn broke that particular curse this season.

EMBARRASSING. This is worse than SC losing to Mizzou. I mean, the team in the BASEMENT? GAAAAAAH!

I saw a lot of hero ball last night (reflected by Key only get 4 shot attempts and those 22 turnovers), which we haven't really seen all season. My hope is that last night was an anomaly, and the each player taking Keyen Green's injury personally and trying to do too much on their own. She was the emotional centerpiece of the team, so I'm not surprised they were so off last night.
It's definitely not an easy stretch moving forward so I hope they get back to what got them where they are, and fast.

I think the loss of Green was definitely hanging over the team. Horston and Burrell were both trying too hard to score on their own, and Dye had a crap night. KJH should have settled them down sooner instead of waiting until half-time when they'd already dug an 11-pt hole. Unfortunately, Green's loss is not going away. Stone-hands Saunders is incapable of hanging onto either a pass or rebound. Key getting into early foul trouble is very problematic.

I've actually felt that until very recently Tenn was ranked well below where they deserved based on their record and performance, but then I'm somebody who generally thinks records matter a lot more than subjective feelings or eye tests.
But at the same time it's hard to think of a team where the record and the eye test seemed so far out of synch. Impressively (but also surprisingly to me) they kept winning, but they certainly didn't look very impressive or fundamentally sound while doing it.
So I've sort of been waiting for the other shoe to drop and I'm not really surprised they finally got beat. And to some extent I'm not surprised it was in a game they were supposed to win rather than a game against a top opponent. They are a dangerous team I wouldn't want to have to face in the tournament, but at the same time I expect them to lose again along the way.

I thought Auburn played really well, way better than their record indicated. They may give a lot of teams trouble down the road, if they keep it up. Their coach did a good job getting them to this level. Be interesting to see how they make out their next game.

The problem with the teams in the basement is that every once in awhile they sneak up the stairs and bite you in the butt. Nearly happened to JMU tonight with Hofstra but fortunately the Dukes held on.
