Umm, YA.
Nyara and Sedona Prince, certainly. Sedona isn't currently the dominant center she should be. I know her injuries derailed some development, but she's in her second season under Kelly Graves, and I honestly am disappointed in her performances thus far. Her rebounding in particular should be better.
Both gals have terrific 'upsides', and could become long-term pros, imo.
In a discussion like this, I always think of the players like Erica Wheeler, Betnijah Laney, Becky Hammon or my fave, Taj: Not high on anybody's radar pre - wnba, but definitely great pros.

I’d add Jordan Horston from Tennessee as well. Lots of the turnovers she makes should and will be highlight reels in the W

I'd rather add Sara Puckett, Fr from Tenn. She can flat-out shoot it from anywhere (50/40/80%), has a pretty high basketball IQ, and doesn't get rattled. Huge, huge upside.

There are a lot of pretty iffy characters on that list. Stormeo is giving 'everyone' a chance. Mine would be considerably shorter, but I'm too lazy to build it.

I totally agree. That list is much too long. Would have to cut it way down.

A reminder: That big list at the top of the thread is a subjective list I comprised that reflects my own opinions. If y’all don’t like it, you are – once again – more than welcome to put out your own list, or even just say a few names, instead of trying to tear it down.
At least Myrtle’s willing to admit she’s just too lazy to make her own.
And while we’re at it, I said what I said about Horston, TOO! |
And you didn't pay attention to what I said about waiting for Brooklynn Miles who is not quite ready for prime time but getting there.. Deal with it. Kellie is using the options she has right now. You WISH you had Horston. You don't. |
That theory isn't supported by the number of times that Horston and Miles are on the floor together, and Horston has the PG duties anyway. Miles isn't any more a SG than Horston is a PG.
And I'll admit I'm even lazier than myrtle. |
Wasn't Horston touted as a PG coming out of HS |
I found her ESPNW recruitment page. The eval notes appear to be from the same person. Their first entry called her a "combo-guard," but then the entry after that a couple months later called her an "off-guard", with all future entries positionally referring to her simply as a "guard." ESPNW also only labeled her as a "guard."
ProspectsNation however does list her as a PG on her page. However, one description of her within that same page says that she can play "1 through 4." And if a player can play a range of positions, usually their true position is somewhere in the middle – she does seem like a 2/3 player to me.
I'd also like to take this time to finally clear up any lingering confusion. I, Stormeo, am not a member of the Boneyard. And while I'd love to have Horston on my team, my team is the UW Huskies and not the UConn Huskies. (Additionally, my team also needs help at PG, and I'm skeptical that Horston would be the right answer anyway.)

You didn’t need to clear it up. It’s pretty damn obvious you aren’t a UConn Huskie fan. Sad that you had to.

Horston was outstanding on the USA basketball U17 national team. It’s a shame her success there hasn’t transferred to college. Whether that’s a slight against Harper, I’m not sure; I don’t follow Tennessee that much. She could be one of those players that’s better at the pro level than college.

Stormeo, I apologize for putting you with the wrong Huskies. Otherwise, I said what I said.
