Makes figuring out the starting lineup easy. Article says she has 6 months left, but to me it looks like she could be 4 months along. Might she try to play part of the season, like her possible inspiration Sims?

Clarendon/Dangerfield
McBride/#8 (Christyn Williams?)
Powers/(RDavis and/or Zandalisini?)
Dantas/Shepard/#13 (Nelson-Ododa?)
Fowles/Achonwa

Whatever turns out to be financially feasible.

Leaning towards Reeve’s UConn rookie addiction. Only college rookies she’s ever had success with.

Not much financial incentive for Collier to rush back. Apparently they get full salary while out (look out baby fever). But she might want to help her team out, ala Sims. But you witnessed how grateful Reeve was for that effort. Surprised

She is due in May so she would need a miracle to play this season. Just take your time and enjoy it with your family i would say

In a radio interview today, Cheryl said, Marc Lore (new T-Wolves owner) asked, why weren't they paying W players a million dollars a year?

She told him that some owners don't think they should.

Remember how the Lynx cavorted Karima Christmas by wining and dining her and inviting her to local events like a Timberwolves game? Unfortunately, that worked to get her signed by the Lynx.

Now a day into the free agent negotiating period, it appears they’re doing the same thing with Angel McCoughtry. Surprised

<iframe width="640" height="360" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/mj1czvPJpu8" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

She would be an intriguing one year substitution for for Collier, if that’s the kind of situation McCoughtry is looking for.

I’m just wondering how they’d go about budgeting her in?
Fowles not re-signing could be one way.
Finding someone to take over Achonwa’s contract would be the best way (hopefully without having to give away first round draft picks).
It’d be easier to find someone to take over either Powers or McBride’s contact.

This could be interesting.

Clarendon to return to the Lynx according to the StarTrib.
It’ll be interesting to see how all this happens without a trade of a guaranteed contract.

Sylvia Fowles resigns with Minnesota and will retire at the end of the season.

Lynx signed Banham. Not surprised because it’s Reeve, but so confused.

Depends on the contract details. I commented about a week ago that they were planning on signing her and Richyyy pointed out to me at the time that if she's signed for one year at the vet minimum it amounts to a Training Camp contract. So basically giving her a chance to "make the team" with all the other picks/training camp players.

Which would make sense.

I haven’t heard anything about Damiris Dantas lately. She wasn’t on her national team, so I did some research and came up with this translation of an article in Portuguese.

https://basquetetododia.com.br/2022/01/28/damiris-dantas-desfalca-selecao-feminina-no-pre-mundial-de-basquete/

Quote:
The Brazilian Basketball Confederation (CBB) announced this Thursday that the forward Damiris Dantas, from Minnesota Lynx-USA, will miss the Brazilian Women's National Team in the Pre-World Cup, held in Belgrade, Serbia, between 10 and 13 February. To replace Damiris, coach José Neto called up Aline Moura, Araraquara's pivot.
Damiris was injured in the 2021 WNBA season and will not recover in time, despite being called up "without restrictions", according to the CBB. She is recovering from a stress fracture in her right foot.
Lynx's midfielder joins another forward, Clarissa dos Santos, from Basket Landes, France. She, who wasn't even called up, is recovering from a knee injury and won't be available until the Pre-World Cup either.
In all, 14 players were called up, but two will be cut for the Pre-World Cup. Practice starts on February 7th.
Brazil is in Group A, along with qualifying host Serbia, Australia – home to the World Cup – and South Korea. The debut will be against the Australians. On the 12th, the Brazilian team duels with South Korea and, on the following day, closes the Pre-World Cup against Serbia. All games take place at Ranko Zeravica Sports Hall in Belgrade.

Minnesota Lynx sign Natasha Mack and Yvonne Turner to training camp contracts.

https://lynx.wnba.com/roster/

That gives them a roster of 15, but with Collier not being active in camp, I suppose they could still invite a draft pick to camp.

Current training camp contracts
Rachel Banham
Bridget Carlton
Natasha Mack
Yvonne Turner

Signed players that might be sacrificed in order to add another player
Crystal Dangerfield
Rennia Davis
Jessica Shepard

Good draft picks
#8
#13
