Very compelling front court matchup. Between Holmes/Gulbe/Browne and Brink/Belibi/Prechtel, Holmes is the most efficient scorer around the rim. But this will be the deepest frontcourt she has faced, perhaps in her entire collegiate career. Will Stanford's perimeter defense succeed in forcing IU's guards to settle for outside/midrange shots? That's something I'll be interesting in watching for.

I understand Haley Jones did not play against Gonzaga. What is her status for this game? If she is not available or is not 100% that will hurt the Trees.....

Stanford has used predominantly a big lineup which has neutralized IU's frontcourt, who are shooting just 1-8, with the only made FG being a jumper from 16 feet.
IU has brought a double team to Stanford when they catch the ball down low, but Stanford has done a good job finding Belibi for wide open layups.
Haley entered the game for the last 45 seconds of Q1. Stanford leads 17-14.

hmm, Tara put in the bottom of her bench and suddenly the 10 point lead went to 3.
I have to admit the Indiana feed is much better than Stanford's. The Stanford guy says he's broadcasting from his cousin's bedroom...and it sounds like it.

A few miracle heaves from Cardano-Hilary pulled IU back within three, but Stanford still leads 37-34 at half. IU's offense has lacked the fluidity to create enough high percentage looks to keep pace with Stanford's offense so far. Of Holmes' three baskets, for example, only one was "easy." IU being in foul trouble has also played a role, as their bench is pretty weak, but Stanford has taken advantage of this by being very aggressive on the glass.

Whatever the etymological ambiguity of "Hoosier", they were staring into a potential death trench dug for them by Attila the Tree, but rallied from 10 down in the 2Q to trail by only three at the half, notwithstanding poor FG%, rebound and assist numbers compared to Attila. |

Those three numbers sum things up well. IU is not used to getting outrebounded, and Stanford's offense has done a much better job creating opening looks, leading to more assists and a higher FG%.

55-52 Stanford after Q3. It is interesting that Brink has 0 fouls.

I thought when Tara put Jerome in when it mattered, she was basically giving the game away. Fortunately she didn't leave her in for long.

Attila the Tree pours in hordes of bench warrior points, 30-3, against the Hoosier bench, but nevertheless does not appear this season to be as rapacious and genocidal as last season's itinerant Genghis Tree, yet ekes out a small win against the small Hoosiers.
Brink (21/22), Prechtel and Belibi, the front court that UConn dreams of, scored 41 of the Cardinal 69 points. |

These two teams have even less chance to win the NC than UConn.

UConn likely meets SoCaro in the final. At this point they both look head and shoulders better than all the want-a-beeees.
