I have to admit, when Nancy Mulkey was talking about how rare it was to find a coach (in Coach Langley) who cares for you just as much off the court as they do on it, my first instinct was to consider that shade thrown at Sherri Coale, her first college coach at Oklahoma. Razz Mulkey showcased her personality quite well in that interview! I love how expressive & at times downright goofy she was ("we'll wait" lmao my new default response to any given question tbh). I don't recall her being like that when I watched her episode of My Giant Life on TLC a couple years ago now!

For Haley Van Dyke, I liked how her little stint in the transfer portal was quickly addressed. It really seems like she has bought into the culture & vision Langley is trying to build & sell, after she made it seem like she almost didn't give Langley a chance. I wish a couple of her other now-former teammates gave Langley a chance – alas, c'est la vie. In a different article, Van Dyke called this new program a "night and day difference" to what she is used to, akin to a "professional setting" which she sounds like she's thriving in. (And a part of me wants to believe that that is some shade thrown at her former coach as well. Twisted Evil ) I wonder if she would've stayed had Wynn been retained – it kinda seemed to me like she might not have – but, who's to say. Can't wait for the season to start next month – it's the first time in a few years that I've felt excited about having no idea what to expect with this team. Smile

Check.

Having watched all the interviews, I have never been more excited about this conference. Every team except maybe Arizona should be as good or better than last year, and that's saying something. Also so impressed by the poise and eloquence of these young ladies.

Laughing She's been around the block for a hot minute now. She was originally part of the Class of 2016 (Sabrina Ionescu's class). Ironically, her last game with Oklahoma was in the NCAA Tourney's Round of 32, where she played 10 minutes in a road loss to – who else – that same Husky team she's on now, led by Kelsey Plum (amongst others). She even mentioned playing against Plum in that game in the interview!

I would generally agree. I'm not sold that WSU will keep up its success, unless more players alongside CLW step up their games, which is certainly possible – though teams will see the Cougs coming this year. I also think this will be Lynne Roberts' last year with Utah, as they haven't done a whole lot the past several years (and lost a couple key players after last season). And Colorado hasn't done a whole lot either – though if the Buffs can get the transfers they stole from the Huskies to be eligible, that should boost them up quite a bit. Confused

100% agree about Roberts. They'll be improved but not enough to get better than everyone else who's also getting better. Also the eligibility thing shouldn't be an issue with the new one-time transfer rule. I think the Buffs will get to the NCAAs this year, and that will probably buy JR Payne a couple more seasons, but if they don't I agree they should look for a change. I'd suck to be Tam Sadller or Quay Miller to lose your coach one season after transfering because you lost your coach.

I was under the impression that the one-time transfer rule thing won't actually take effect until after the 2021-22 season, but ooh if that's not the case, then at least that means Lauren Schwartz will be available for the Huskies, too!

Fairly obvious, imo. And always a bit sad for me, cuz Coale USTA be that kinda coach. Back in the day, she demonstrated tremendous success and leadership until....she didn't.

The one-time transfer rule did take effect this season, but they had to declare before July 1, I think. In the future, I think it will be May 1. I could be wrong on the dates. 🙃

Thank you! No, upon further research, I think you're right about that July 1 date for this year only and May 1 moving forward. I think I got confused initially because I heard of some transfers trying to get waivers to play this season, not knowing that they had previously transferred to a different school before transferring to wherever they're at now. Messy, messy!
