Using Maya’s career scoring average of 18.4 ppg, she could have possibly reached 4984 + (18.4 x 34) = 5610 pts at 2019’s end. That would have placed her at #13 all time at such a young age.

Maya, come back.

If CanDu stays healthy she's a good chance of being #4 this time next year. That's one of the all time great Points:Hype ratios in the WNBA.

Seeing that list really demonstrates how far ahead Taruasi is and what she has accomplished. There are more points separating No. 1 Taurasi and No. 2 Thompson than separate Thompson and No. 8 Sue Bird.

I don't think there is anyone in the league currently that will overtake her. That one should stand for a long time.

Pilight, is there anyone on pace to compete?

Breanna Stewart and A'ja Wilson are both have scoring averages close to Taurasi's (Wilson just below, Stewart just above). The combining that scoring with consistency and longevity is really the question. Taurasi just averaged 18.7 on her 16th(!) season. I can't imagine any other player has been close to that.

When I ran projections for my site, the only players besides Taurasi showing a chance at 9000 were A'ja Wilson (13%) and Arike Ogunbowale (7%). If we thought Taurasi was about to retire and leave the record just shy at 8931, the players with a shot would be those two plus Kelsey Mitchell (1%).

And if Taurasi didn’t fuck around and get wisdom tooth she could’ve been at 9K already.

Also interesting how Dupree, ranking 5th, isn’t even regarded as a Top 20 player.

Dupree is probably the smoothest offensive forward of all-time. If she could defend at all she would be up there with the all-time greats.

I still remember her 5 footer that sent home the Storm years ago in the playoffs. That moment sealed it for me as a Dupree stan. That and when she got suspended for pushing a referee lol.

Dupree is moving up the ranks, but it's 100% on empty stats, and has been for years now. A combination of being on bad teams allowing her to be higher in the pecking order on offense than she otherwise should be and her defense being entirely overlooked. In her prime she was a great third option, but her efficiency craters when pushed into a larger role, which we saw to start her career in Chicago and now in Indiana.

Candice Dupree is fifth all-time in scoring, and hasn't played in a game that mattered since 2016. Hasn't scored as many as 15 points, in a game that mattered, since 2015. I derisively refer to Sue Bird as The Compiler, but Candice Dupree is the #RealCompiler.

The only reason why Stefanie Dolson is not, hands down, the undisputed most overrated multiple time All-Star in WNBA history, is because of Candice Dupree. #HateHard

Calling Shoni Schimmel overrated implies that there are people somewhere who still rate her.

Amazing how a list like this shows up how young the league still is. Like, Tamera Young, who hung around for quite a while but could never really score, is comfortably in the top-100 scorers in league history. That feels weird.

If you had asked me five years ago, I would have bet everything I owned that Angel McCoughtry would retire as a Top 5 scorer. I wouldn't even have been able to imagine a scenario where she would not only end up behind DeWanna Bonner, but wouldn't even make it to 6,000.

Moriah Jefferson will be on my shit list forever and ever. I think I hate her even more than I hate Bird; at least, with Bird, I have a begrudging respect for her contributions to basketball.

looking at that list I can only assume DeWanna Bonner is going to try and score the fastest 15 points in WNBA history to start the 2024 season

Is that list regular season only or reg plus playoffs. Because if it's playoffs too, then the Sun will go on a 15-0 Bonner run.

Regular season

I figured by the posts, but I wanted to be 100% sure. AT is gonna set screens and wants all the assists on those points haha.

(unless they have a good relationship now in which case this is us being us, but, never know haha)
