If only Atlanta didn't fuckin' blow that last game against the Merc. As discussed elsewhere, they could honestly make a push for that 8-seed with their potentially soft & squishy schedule to end the season. But because they have so much trouble closing out games, you just know it's not gonna happen.
And knowing this Dream franchise, they'll probably win just enough games here down the stretch to take themselves out of the running for best odds at the #1 Pick lmao. (Though I suppose the Fever could do the same, knowing them...)

Hot take: Candice Dupree is the most "empty stats" player in WNBA history.

I don't recall Sims being on the injured list, but she hasn't played as of the start of the 4th. Any reason given? (I missed part of the game.)

Having been on Indiana from 2017-2020 where the theme there since Catchings retired has truly been "Emptiness" surely helps give her that perception. Those early years of hers in Chicago probably contribute handsomely as well.

Six playoff appearances in sixteen years. And, for two-thirds of those playoff appearances, she was the fourth-best player on the team.

If by "fourth" you in fact mean "fifth". Taurasi, Griner, Bonner, and Taylor are all ahead of her

She was a role player, albeit a very effective one, during that Phx period.
Stepping into a true starring role did not suit her, but that is true of most players.

You mentioned that she is a seven-time All-Star: are there any other players in WNBA history with that many All-Star selections, without a single All-WNBA selection, in their career?

To Dupree's credit, she was clearly not trying to title-chase when she made the conscious(?) decision to re-sign with Indiana in 2018.

You have an entirely different attitude about "title-chasing" than I do; I don't think that's to her "credit," at all.

Nope. Next most is five, by Rebekkah Brunson and Dawn Staley.

So if I understand correctly, what you're saying is that she didn't mind at all being on a bad team cuz it gave her the best opportunity to continue to compile more... |
What I'm saying is that I don't consider "title-chasing" to be a negative trait, therefore, I don't consider not "title-chasing" to be an attribute for which she deserves any credit.
