The Fever have now lost 6 games in a row by at least 16 points.
This isn't just a bad team. This is one of the worst teams in league history. |
It's beyond being bad for the fans & the team now. It's bad for the league.

I wouldn't go that far. There are always bottom feeders in any pro sports. This year its the Fever, next year it could be somebody else.

...and the Stanley Steamer just keeps on chugging along.
What is surprising is how easily Tierra is knocked over and pushed around. She's a big strong woman or at least she should be. She's always been slothfully slow but she now seems to just coast and not make it up court half the time..
Something's just not right here. She was never this bad before. Demoralized?
Disinterested? Unwell? Steamered?

First, a code alert. You can say a male player needs to lose weight, but with female players, you have to say "better shape."
Lauren Cox hardly resembles the player she was coming out of high school. She needs to get in better shape.

Taking Cox at #2 was a roll of the dice. Would she/could she stay healthy with the added stress of pro athletics? Maybe not as big a roll of the dice as taking Gondrezick at #4, but still... The Fever need to hire a professional talent scout because what they're doing now is not working out. And any team who is this bad for multiple years should automatically get the #1 pick. As it is, though they would likely screw up that pick as well.

As for T. McCowan, I wasn't a big fan when she came out of college but she has kind of grown (groan) on me. I agree she has limitations but some of those (footwork and learning moves in the post) are fixable. The sad thing is that there doesn't appear to be growth in those areas. I'm not sure if she may have a 'smarts' issue or if she simply hasn't gotten the right coach to work with her one on one. Still, you can't teach size (groan). How much of her fall off is her own fault vs how much is how she is being utilized? Truthfully it has gotten so bad, that I rarely even watch much of their games...but when I do, it seems like the guards haven't figured out how to get her the ball when she's two feet from the basket. Mostly they're too busy hoisting to even notice.

In the one game IND did win, McCowan was a factor.
30 min, 17 pts on 13 shots, 10 reb, 3 ast |
It's what makes McCowan so frustrating. She has shown flashes of being absolutely dominate, but as (or more) often disappears completely.
