Despite setbacks, Elena Delle Donne still has big goals for 2021

https://onherturf.nbcsports.com/2021/04/27/elena-delle-donne-wnba-washington-mystics-olympics/

Quote:
In the last 18 months, Delle Donne has had back surgery twice: first in January 2020, followed by a second operation in December 2020.

Last summer, Delle Donne also detailed her experience with chronic Lyme disease, revealing that she takes 64 pills a day to “keep my condition under any sort of control.”

Has anyone heard anything about fans in stands?

The Commish stated a few weeks ago that so far 11 out 12 teams will allow a limited amount of fans

The Storm told us that they won't have fans in the stands to start the season, so we must be the lone outlier.

it was painful to try and find the box score from yesterday's game on the WNBA site. There was no link to yesterdays' preseason game from the home page, and I wound up poking around on the stats page to finally find it at https://stats.wnba.com/game/1012100001/
That was way too much work to find out who played and how they did.

BTW, Elena was a DNP. Tina had 18 points, and Jillian Alleyne had 10 points.
Pre Stanley made all 3 of her shots in ~5 1/2 minutes of play.

And it's hard not seeing Emma's name on the roster. Best wishes to the Belgian Cats.

Or just pay $16.99 to subscribe to League Pass and click on the Mystics Dream game. You won't see the game, but you will have easy access to the box score....

No fans in the stands, but i thnk they will allow them to hang by their feet from the rafters.

Pre Stanley sounds like Indiana history before Marianne arrived.

Well really, Pre Stanley came to Washington two years after Marianne Stanley’s stint(s) with the Mystics ended. If anything, you could say that Pre Stanley joined Washington post-Stanley. Surprised

Between League Pass and the Monumental Sports Network, we were blacked-out of most games last year.
We pay for League Pass every year, but accept that it's a token of support for the league and is not a viable way for us to watch games that are not nationally broadcast.
That's what we get for living in the boonies of Metro DC.

I'd be surprised if Mack makes the team

pretty obviously not. Which IMO is too bad. She outperformed Collier every time they met, but did not get the opportunity that Collier got in the W going to a team that has no choice but to use her. Well, life isn't always fair. Hopefully she gets a good gig overseas and another opportunity here next year.

Yeah, Collier got lucky cause she ran into the W to cut off all those great players that would've been in front of her in the 2022 draft. Anywho, Mack would've been a beast on the board for Dallas if they had lower draft picks. I still see her making it to the W one day. Maybe expansion or roster size will improve by then too.

How about Washington? Admittedly, I haven't been paying attention to them, but it looks like McCall, Plaisance, and Alleyne are still on the roster. It depends on what Mike T is looking for. If Thibault wants defense and rebounding, Mack is a better choice. She's in that LaToya Pringle (Lara Sanders)/Brianna Turner mode of quick, skinny complementary posts who aren't scorers but can defend and rebound. Mike loved LaToya. Mack could be version 2.0.

Not a whole lot to pay attention to at the moment. I see Washington paying close attention to that waiver wire. McCall and Plaisance have had a world of chances, and neither are even serviceable at this point imo, but Alleyne should make the roster since she has come on strong here. I'm not crazy about Zellous as Clark's direct fill-in – Zellous really hasn't been good since 2018, and inexplicably (or not) was out of the League last year. She probably shouldn't make the roster, but probably will. Sutton was another Texas product with raw talent whom Karen Aston simply failed to develop (à la Joyner Holmes). Stella Johnson though should probably get another year.

I'd put together the roster like this:

PG: Cloud/Mitchell
SG: Atkins/Leslie/Johnson
SF: Delle Donne/Zellous or waiver wire
PF: Hines-Allen/Alleyne/McCall, Plaisance, or waiver wire
C: Charles/waiver wire

I agree, this would be a great place for Mack to land at for when she gets waived. No matter what, I think we'll see Mack make an appearance for some team this year – maybe even this weekend.

Looks like Fisher is a better GM than most. Instead of cutting players, he’s getting assets. Making good trades (Gabby).
