Williams will still be full-season suspended for 2021.

With that said, Williams really hasn't done much the past three WNBA seasons to merit a higher return. Great overseas play, but that hasn't yet translated to the States. And again, I'd guess that Wade probably likes the acquisition of Fiebich's rights more than that of Watts in the flesh, though we'll know for sure when rosters get finalized on Thursday.

Meanwhile, how LA decides what Williams' value is gonna be upon getting her contract extended, I have no idea. Good luck to them.

I understand that she never really got going with the Sky, but I was under the impression that it was because she was being forced to play out of her natural position. Thought she did a decent job on defense, which is more than you can say about most of the team! If we didn't suffer from a height disadvantage so often, I think that would have always improved our positioning, along with avoiding key injuries.

Oh well, guess it doesn't really matter now. I'll miss her.

I don’t think this was one though. She’s pretty much contributed nothing to the Sky. Even with opportunity she always seemed to play like she was out of her league she had some bright spots but I don’t think Wade loses any sleep over this move .

Watts is still gonna get waived on Thursday, right? Just by Chicago and not LA? Embarassed

Why make the trade unless Wade likes Watts enough to keep her? You might as well just hold on to Williams's rights until next year and see what you can get in sign-and-trade. Wade looks completely ridiculous for making this deal unless Watts sticks on the roster.


This. Why not wait till next season. She is not playing this season anyway and i think her stock will only go up when she plays well for France this summer.

I'm officially done discussing the Gabby transaction. It's over. It's done. I will say this. This season is championship or bust. No excuses. Go ahead and blow the team up if they don't win a championship this season.

Maybe no suitors other than LA >? They pretty much dumped her for peanuts so seems like some type of deal had to be done on a deadline and Wade finally said ok w/e here.

Gabby requested a trade in April once team realized she was gonna sit out the 2021 season teams pulled offers off the table

Williams did NOT force a trade, Wade is a liar and now a lot of people know who he is. Once you go down that path people stop wanting to deal with you. Every time he opens his mouth he puts his foot in it as he cannot tell the truth and when he is pressed by the press he starts making stuff up and changing his story. He is the Trumpian of all coaches, even thinks he can stop people talking.

Evidence? The "We Did it, Joe" post certainly suggests that she was fully in favor of the trade.

And, just to be clear, the Most Trumpian thing of all is to make unsubstantiated claims isinuating that you are a more reliable source on a given subject than literal experts on that subject ...which you are actually totally doing right now. Just sayin. If youre gonna make a claim like that despite overwhelming evidence, you kind of have an obligation to provide counter-evidence.

In my opinion, watching Mack as much as I have, there is a reason she fell so far in the draft, and this move isn't surprising. She will most likely be given a chance by someone at some point this season, but I just don't see her sticking in the league unless she can make some big changes to her game
