First time I've seen something like this with no Paige Bueckers. Is she too old or did she reject it out of hand?

Just had surgery, would have probably been on AmeriCup roster.

She's also too old for U19. Born October 20, 2001, she's 19 and will be available to jump to the WNBA at the end of her junior year at UConn.

Some nice write-ups on Azzi Fudd, Talia van Oelhoffen, and C2.

USA up 27-11 after Q1.

Close is using virtually the entire bench and spreading minutes pretty evenly so far.

USA leads 48-14 at the half. It took Italy 8+ minutes to score their first field goal of Q2. Shocked

The only player who hasn't played yet for USA is Amari DeBerry.

I watched the game, surprised that Azzi didn’t make more of an impact, I understand they probably wouldn’t looking to set her up more, although I know Geno won’t make that mistake.

Very impressed by Diamond Johnson and Sonia Citron. They should have some great battles in the ACC. Betts was as good as I expected.

Clark was not too impressive. As the tournament goes along I’m sure she’ll get more comfortable though, just interesting that lots of folks are clamoring for her (along with Beuckers) to come in and save Team USA senior team with their pass first, unselfish mentality. She seems to be as much of a chucker as Arike, etc yet she doesn’t get that label as much Rolling Eyes

Who are the foreigners that are draft eligible? Anyone we should pay attention to?

Probably isn’t labeled a chucker because she’s not a chucker.

I agree with you that Johnson and Citron were amazing yesterday.

Clark had a terrible first half but played well in the second half. But who exactly ever claimed that Clark would bring a pass first mentality to the senior team? As for her not being labeled a chucker -- I've definitely seen/heard/read a gamut of insults directed her way. From the euphemistic "ball dominant player," "volume shooter," or "scoring" PG to the less kind "ball hog," "chucker," and "turnover machine." (edit: and this doesn't even begin to address the comments made about her defense. Laughing) She's a highly skilled, high risk / high reward player who's exciting to watch and at her best with the ball in her hands. These types of players especially will have their ups and downs.

Triple double watch for Clark... 18 pts (5 for 8 from three!!), 5 rebounds, 4 assists. More importantly only 1 turnover. She's getting burned on defense tho.

USA leads 48-32 midway through Q2.

It was a good game until Clark started hitting threes. Man, when she is on, she is on!

I'm watching with captions on and laughing hilariously at some of the translations. The most recent was "luggage on the lam" when an Aussie made a layup. Layup seems to often be 'lamp'.

all these girls have a few things to learn about defense. But it's really entertaining. And I would love to have a transcript of the closed caption stuff...just rofl.

Happy to have Betts coming to Stanford. Wish it were this year rather than next though. Is she the youngest kid on the squad?
