Fox Sports broadcaster Joe Buck is slated to fill in as a future guest host.

And I thought having Dr. Oz guest-hosting was bad enough... Rolling Eyes

Quote:
Buck’s episodes are expected to air at some point in the mid-summer, according to sources. Guest hosts so far have been on air for two-week stints. There is no word yet on how long Buck will be on.

Hard to beat Anderson Cooper for this job. Is this really a great job for him?

Anderson Cooper is Alex Trebek v.2. At some points he seemed to be imitating Alex's speech patterns. He did a really good job though.

There are some names that have disappeared. I know Myam Bialik and Sanjay Gupta were listed before and I also think Savannah Guthrie and Al Toker were as well. Maybe others I am forgetting.

OMG Luuuc.

I can't stop laughing now.

So would that be Al of the California Tokers? Or the Colorado ones? Or maybe of the East Coast Tokers.

I don't Believe Anderson Copper is actually looking at this as a job opportunity but he has been doing a great job.

He is excellent with the pacing and has been the best at the guest interview segment by far (which seems to be where all the others have struggled the most).

He is also quite skilled at telling the guest they are wrong or incorrect without sounding punitive.

And whether it is an act or not he seems very genuine and comfortable.

I really can't stand Bill Whitaker's soft Delaware Valley accent

Haha! Well, since the map 'zone' of Delaware Valley includes Philadelphia, I'd think he oughtta sound more like: Dawn Staley, Geno Auriemma, Muff McGraw, and Benjamin Franklin! Razz

He does, except that he's very soft spoken and he's had accent reduction training. He would bother me less if he'd kept the abrasive accent rather than having it occasionally poke through his bland Broadcast English.

I'm starting to think that this whole 'Jeopardy!' rotating guest-host "audition" was a sham by the show's Executive Producer so he could choose himself as the successor to Trebek. Mad

I had that suspicion back when I looked up his bio. Trebek's cancer diagnosis was reported March 6, 2019. On August 29, 2019 Richards was announced as new executive producer of Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune. But in addition to being an executive producer on other game shows, he has also been a host for multiple game shows. And then he gets his turn in the rotation and says that it is an "emergency fill in" because Ken Jennings is tied up on The Chase and no one else on their list can do it because of COVID-19.

The other suspicious thing is that most of the people that hosted have other well paying gigs. But Levar Burton wanted the job. Maybe his brief time will make him a candidate for another game show host.

The show said explicitly that the run of guest hosts was not an audition

Matt Amodio continues to climb the leaderboard: He’s now the 4th highest earner in Jeopardy! history (regular-season play)!

Mike Richards named new Jeopardy host. Bialik to host as well.

Will Jeopardy be working Bialik's hosting duties around her TV show schedule?

I don’t think the tournaments (college, former champions) she is going to host go more than two weeks. They film 5 shows a day so it ends up only being two days that she needs to get in.

For A Show Full Of Answers, 'Jeopardy!' Host Selection Raises A Lot Of Questions

Quote:
3. The two-hosts thing is silly and, again, disingenuous

The job to succeed Trebek on Jeopardy! proper? It went to Richards. Not two people. Richards. And the more they put out statements that obscure the result, the more it makes it seem like they don't want to talk about what really happened.

Jeopardy!’s Mike Richards Has a Decorated CV—and His Share of Detractors

Quote:
But two sources close to Jeopardy! tell The Ringer that that’s not an accurate depiction of how Richards came to host. Instead, a planned host had a minor conflict during one of the show’s upcoming tape days. Jeopardy! staff and crew told the host that they could work around it—only for Richards to step in and insist on hosting himself, according to the sources, one of whom described feeling surprised that Richards characterized his presence onstage as an emergency substitution.

She’s not going to be hosting Jeopardy at all. That’s just some Hollywood smoke.

This is a good examination of the debacle from NPR which surprisingly tells a lot of truths.

Ah I see tfan already posted it. Good read.
