Not sure? Saw that as well, but sometimes they just keep there until they figure out for sure. Might wait a little to see if they stay there.

With Kim Barnes Arico having to replace her entire coaching staff, could that mean that KBA to Baylor becomes a real possibility? Do we think she would leave what she has going at Michigan? Who could she hire as assistant coaches? |
I wondered the same thing but I still don't think KBA goes to Baylor (but never say never). We'll see soon enough. Heather Oesterle, currently the head coach at CMU, would be a great candidate for head coach if KBA leaves. Actually, if KBA were older and closer to retirement it might work to have Oesterle come in as an assistant coach/head coach in waiting. I know those don't necessarily work out but it'd be interesting to consider. Try to lure Suzy Merchant from MSU? As far as assistants, I have no idea. The only thing that makes me think there could be something to the Baylor thing is KBA hadn't hired any assistants to replace Wilson and Brooks and then a few days ago Sanchez left. That could all be coincidence or maybe holding off is part of a negotiation strategy but, like I said, we'll see soon enough. |
I don’t believe KBA is going anywhere.
I love Heather (she’s a Michigan alum) and have supported her for years. After building a career in the MAC to become a head coach and winning titles, it would an insult to ask her to be a coach in waiting.
Suzy wanted the Michigan job when she was a Eastern Michigan. Michigan’s AD picked Kevin Borseth instead. That ship sailed in 2007.
I think KBA hit a perfect storm losing her assistants. Obviously Toyelle was going to be a head coach again soon. Yvonne spent her entire life in the southwest until the Michigan job. I think ASU gave her the ability to be closer to her family. I can’t speculate why Wes left, but he’s moved to the SEC where he can continue to build his resume.
There aren’t many Michigan alums in the coaching ranks, but Shimmy may be interested in coming back closer to her mom (Flint). KBA could also bring back a youngster like Jillian Dunston. Whatever the case, KBA has traditionally taken her time to make changes. Wes was announced May 8, Toyelle was announced May 20, and Yvonne was announced July 2.

Apparently the white smoke has been seen from the Baylor tower, but so far it hasn't leaked out who the person is. Should know something tonight if all the rumors are true.

Interesting choice.

That's a really good hire. She is better known for her nearly 2 decades of coaching the Whitney Young HS girls basketball team which always had multiple D-I recruits every year. In addition, she was the coach of the successful AAU program Lady Fire. She is very well connected, well respected and well liked. I think this could really help the Illini program.
