The Battle 4 Atlantis will hold a women's tournament this season, and what a group of teams they have assembled. No matchups yet but here are the teams:
Buffalo
Connecticut
Minnesota
Oklahoma
Oregon
South Carolina
South Florida
Syracuse
Each team will play three games, November 20-22.

I can't remember where I heard this, but I was under the understanding that South Carolina and UConn will be placed in separate "groups" in this tournament and will not play each other. Because they are contractually obligated to avoid playing each other outside of the non-conference game they already have scheduled later in the season. Is that true?

I've seen arrangements like that before, although they're usually if you end up putting two teams from the same conference in a preseason tournament (there was one at Seton Hall a few years ago where they had to revamp it in a hurry because there were two Big East and two A-10 teams, IIRC)

Marquette was supposed to go to this tournament for the 20-21 season and was told they couldn't go this season because fellow Big East school UCONN was in it this season. I'm not sure if they get to go back another year now or not.

I don't think UCONN will be in the same group as South Carolina or Oregon. We are slated to play at Columbia and Eugene next season.

Our girls were in this Cancun Challenge a couple years ago. I am assuming it is going to be the same as it was three years ago, in which case they stay and play at the Hard Rock hotel complex, with the arena on site. The whole place is all-inclusive, including food and drinks at the arena. Additionally, you get attraction credits with your room, which you can use to go do a dolphin swim or something else, or for salon services, expensive wine, etc.

Yup, Iowa's social media accounts were posting about the all-inclusive resort as not a bad way to kick off the season. Hope they find some time for basketball, too

I just need the SEC schedule to come out so I know if/when A&M is visiting Tennessee, and then I can plan a trip.

Battle 4 Atlantis schedule:
November 20
Connecticut - Minnesota
South Florida - Syracuse
Oregon - Oklahoma
South Carolina - Buffalo
November 21
(likely matchups)
Connecticut - South Florida
Oregon - South Carolina
Minnesota - Syracuse
Oklahoma - Buffalo
November 22
1st Place, 3rd Place, 5th Place, 7th Place games
So this means UConn and South Carolina could play in the tournament

That seems like a very sparse non-con for JMU. I'm not sure if that's a full slate yet.

That's what I was thinking. I was also thinking that damn, that's a very impressive list of home opponents!
