Mulkey's giving a much better account of herself today than in the semis. 6 blocks already, several against 6'5" Shakira Austin. She's finished with contact, has scored on an up-and-under move, has had some nice assists to cutters, and showed good hands catching passes off the pick and roll. She's moved around at lot more in the half-court offense, and has altered play on the defensive end even when she wasn't blocking shots. Can she do it for two halves?

And holding Shakira Austin to 2-11 shooting in the 1H.

Quantum jumpingly, Rice is shooting 52% to Ole Miss (pun) 21%.

Despite Mulkey sitting most of the 4th with foul trouble, Rice wins 71-58

Mulkey 19 pts, 12 rebs, 7 blks

That statline could just get her drafted. Though it's too bad for her that the Wings this year don't have a 3RP they can use on a local player.

Being 6'9 will also help

I always wonder how much shorter she'd be if she didn't have a particularly longer-than-average neck. Like, does she in actuality have the approximate wingspan & below-the-neck body/torso of a 6'6 or 6'5 player?

Comparing Mulkey today to the 6'5" Austin, I would say that Mulkey's wingspan is considerably longer. Austin might agree after Mulkey blocked a couple of her shots from behind. Mulkey also caught a high pass with ease that I thought was going out of bounds. But I guess we'll have to wait for the tape to tell the tale.

Austin adapted well to Mulkey after halftime, using the rim as protection against her. She ended up with 25 points on 10-25 shooting after a bad start. But the rest of the Rebels are better athletes than shooters, and none of them scored in double figures today.

I was routing for Ole Miss.

Anyway congrats to them for making the finals. SEC will be bright next year with their overall elevation.
