Oregon hasn't beaten a ranked team all season and lost its last two games to Oregon State, yet Oregon remains ranked while Oregon State is not. Honestly all Oregon has going for them is they made a lot of three pointers early in the season and they only lost to Stanford by 2 in February.

That particular *head-to-head* analysis isn't really as valid as you may think. If you use your own standard in the Big Ten (Michigan and Rutgers only beating OH St cuz their pg was out) then that might not reflect so well on OR St's wins over OR, cuz Paopao was out for those, too. OR did beat OR St. quite handily in Corvallis.

Moreover, OR St. dodged bullets by not playing AZ twice, for example, and didn't play their second game against Stanford until the conference tourney, where Stanford schlocked 'em (OR played #1 Stanford very closely, twice). Yet, OR St's w/l record is inferior to Oregon's, who -- I believe? -- has a better SOS than the Beavs.

The BIG difference? OR started strongly, and tanked later in the season. OR St finished strongly, after a weak start. Who might do better in the tourney is anybody's guess. All part of The Madness of March! Cool

How do the conferences fare in the week 17 and final AP poll?

Giving 25 points for the #1 ranking down to one point for the #25 ranking, the conferences' total points are below. (The numbers in parentheses are the conferences' total points in the prior nine weeks' polls.)

This week:
- The SEC increased its dominant lead over the 2nd place conference to 31 points
- The P12 flipped back ahead of the B10 for 2nd place, as the B10 dropped 8 points

SEC = 22+20+16+13+11+8 = 90 (88) (87) (76) (71) (71) (75) (73) (77) (78)

P12 = 24+17+15+3 = 59 (58) (61) (67) (67) (70) (72) (72) (70) (75)

B10 = 19+14+10+5+4 = 52 (60) (54) (59) (61) (57) (58) (58) (53)

ACC = 23+18 = 41 (42) (44) (44) (45) (47) (49) (52) (49)

B12 = 21+9 = 30 (29) (26) (27) (26) (26) (23) (19) (19) (25)

BEC = 25 (25) (26) (27) (32) (28) (29) (32) (31) (29)

WCC = 12 (10) (8) (5) (10) (9) (7) (8) (6) (6)

AAC = 7 (6) (11) (13) (14) (12) (13) (12) (10)

MVC = 6 (5) (3) (3) (1) (1)

ASN = 2 (2)

SUM = 1 (1) (5) (4) (3) (3) (3) (1)
