DOUBTS OVER OXFORD COVID-19 VACCINE AFTER ANIMALS TESTED CATCH VIRUS

Quote:
Although all of the monkeys were found to have been infected with the virus, none suffered from pneumonia, which suggests the vaccine could help fight the severity of COVID-19, which may give optimism to some.

Wow. That is a tough article. And the information runs very counter to everything we’ve been hearing these last few weeks.

I posted in some other thread that 3 pharma companies have had successful Phase 1 trials (small group of patients, designed to find optimum dose to produce antibodies without dire side effects) and plan to start Phase 3 trials later this month (thousands of patients to assess Ab production and longevity). Moderna is so confident their vax will work that they're already ramping up production of doses to distribute to the public.

So...like everything else with this novel disease, there are a lot of contradictions.

And "herd immunity" for COVID is D.O.A. People have tested positive, then negative, then positive again. Either the antibodies they developed from initial infection failed to prevent reinfection or the virus was dormant inside was active, then dormant, then active again. And FYI, it has happened enough times, with multiple negative test and no symptoms until the next positive test that it is now confirmed in multiple cases in multiple countries.

It could be a problem with the test

I believe I was a false negative for COVID so that was my first thought. But it's happened so many times now that chances of so many test errors is shrinking. But you're right, I should list it as a possibility. Less likely than the two that I mentioned, but still possible.

Doctor and Johns Hopkins professor Marty Makary says that the FDA put an "unprecedented" month delay on the Phase III vaccine trial approval date, which put it beyond the election.

Quote:
Some sympathetic to the FDA career staff (*cough* great grandpa Fauci *cough*) have suggested that the U.K. was careless in approving the vaccine quickly, but the real story is how the American government bureaucracy wasted time.

And after Pfiizer submitted their data on November 22, the FDA scheduled their review meeting for December 12. Makary says the review, which is only a statistical analysis, can be done in 24 or 48 hours and that the review of manufacturing data should have started months ago.

Quote:
As a Johns Hopkins scientist who has conducted more than 100 clinical studies and reviewed thousands more from the scientific community at large, I can assure you that the agency’s review can be done within 24 to 48 hours without cutting any corners. They just need to work harder.

And then there is this "you can't make this up" issue from last January:

Quote:
Back in January, The Dispatch reported on the shocking story of how FDA regulators told University of Washington physician Dr. Alex Greninger that he could not test suspected COVID patients in Washington state, requiring him to first apply for an FDA authorization to do so. The complicated application Greninger completed sat at the FDA until he inquired about the delay. He was told that his electronically submitted application was incomplete because he had to also print it out and mail a physical copy along with a CD-ROM or hard drive of the electronic application.

The Dispatch claims to print "the truth based on conservative principles." Translation: looking for any possible perceived slight to a conservative cause or candidate.

You can easily look at the history of FDA review of emergency authorizations and see that the "purposeful delay" is actually the FDA standard. MANY have objected through the years while loved ones waited for FDA authorization to receive life saving medications.

Long story short: the FDA did what the FDA always does and set the authorization date in their usual time frame. It had absolutely NOTHING to do with an election date. There was NO "delay."

We are sick of all the whiny babies who are looking for any and every excuse for why Trump lost. He lost because the great majority of people despise everything about him - 7 million more people than those who support him. People who despise everything about the man live all across the country, including in states where the majority of voters previously voted for him. They quite simply regret voting for him and voted against him at the next opportunity.

This is yet another weak attempt to not only excuse Trump's loss but to implicate Fauci in another false conspiracy theory. The sad thing is that some will believe it.

The FDA is a slow-moving bureaucracy just like every other agency in Washington. You don't have to look any further for reasons for their vaccine approval schedule.

The speed with which the Covid vaccines have been developed has been remarkable, a testament to the positive powers of RNA science and a motivated federal government.

I hereby offer my ironclad, guaranteed, inevitable Covid vaccine predictions:

1. Everyone vaccinated will die.

2. The deaths will be very, very strongly correlated with the person's age at the time of vaccination.

3. The deaths will be most heavily concentrated in nursing homes. Unfortunately, some in nursing homes will die within a few days of being vaccinated.

The only thing I'm not sure about is how medical experts and the media will explain and headline these inevitable facts.

Seems like Trump caused the mainstream media too fully out themselves. They couldn't stop from showing their partisanship as well, even if they didn't put it into a summary line.

In this article a statement was made that they specifically added an extra month from their normal time period and that they said it was for safety. But we need a reference (not provided by the author) that shows that they have a standard time period to do whatever this was referred to as, and that in this instance it was extended by one month. Or alternatively, a reference that shows that this type of thing (time between trial end and application for vaccine approval?) has a history of wide variability in how long the FDA takes to do it. What I find is statements that the FDA has set two months for evaluation with nothing about the normal time limit. But two months sounds pretty quick when I have heard people say that it normally takes at least five plus years for a vaccine to come to market. So he probably did make that "added a month" up.

Quote:
THE FOOD AND DRUG Administration on Tuesday released new guidelines for coronavirus vaccine candidates that will likely push any regulatory approval for a vaccine beyond Election Day.

The nonbinding guidance recommends waiting a median duration of at least two months after trial participants receive their second dose before a company seeks an emergency use authorization for the vaccine.

Wall Street analysts are cautiously optimistic on J&J’s ‘one-dose’ Covid vaccine

Quote:
Johnson & Johnson is expected to deliver preliminary late-stage trial results for its one-dose Covid vaccine candidate by the end of January. If its jab is proven to be safe and effective, the company aims to deliver at least 1 billion doses by the end of the year.

Chinese Covid-19 Vaccine Far Less Effective Than Initially Touted in Brazil

Quote:
Results of Sinovac’s shot were almost 30 percentage points lower than previously announced, as concerns grow over study’s transparency

While Sinovac’s CoronaVac efficacy rate still meets the 50% threshold the World Health Organization considers good enough for widespread use, scientists said a lack of transparency about the data risks damaging the credibility of a vaccine Brazilians and others world-wide are already reluctant to take.

But after rising pressure from Brazilian scientists, some of whom accused the trial’s organizers of misleading the public, Butantan said Tuesday those rates only included volunteers who suffered mild to severe cases of Covid-19. When data from all volunteers was considered—including those who contracted “very mild” cases of Covid-19 and required no medical assistance—the total efficacy rate fell to 50.4%, Butantan said.

A new one-dose vaccine from Janssen is 66% effective overall and 85% effective against severe COVID-19.

Novavax has a vaccine that has been 89% effective in UK trials and works against the new more contagious UK variant.

Both will be available "later in the year".

The AstraZeneca vaccine which is being used in Europe has some concern about blood clotting as found in Austria and Norway. Which caused Ireland , the Netherlands and others to pause use.

Ireland temporarily suspends Astrazeneca COVID-19 vaccine

Quote:
Ireland temporarily suspended AstraZeneca's COVID-19 vaccine on Sunday following new information received from the Norwegian Medicines Agency regarding blood clotting in some recipients there, the country's health ministry said.

Netherlands joins Ireland in vaccine suspension over blood clot concerns

Quote:
The first reports of blood clots in people receiving the AstraZeneca vaccine came out of Austria and caused a flurry of concern, leading to a number of European countries, including Denmark, pausing their use of it pending investigations. The northern Italian region of Piedmont suspended its use of the vaccine as an “extreme precautionary measure” on Sunday to investigate if there was a causal to the death of a teacher who had received it the day before.

No reason not to keep using AstraZeneca vaccine, says WHO

This article talks about vaccinated people getting infected and says not to be alarmed. The vaccines are 95% effective at best. The reason it isn't 100% is because vaccinated people got infected in their trials. And each person builds up different amounts of immunity. It also pays to be safe as the more virus someone is exposed to, the harder it is for the body to fight it.

Quote:
In clinical trials, the three vaccines cleared for emergency use in the United States were evaluated for their ability to prevent symptomatic cases of COVID-19, which they each do to a remarkably high extent. The Moderna and Pfizer-BioNTech jabs reduce, on a population scale, the risk of disease by about 95 percent; Johnson & Johnson’s clocked in at 72 percent among Americans.

Israeli company claims oral COVID-19 vaccine on its way

Quote:
An oral vaccine could potentially allow for people to self vaccinate at home.

The new Oravax vaccine candidate targets three structural proteins of the novel coronavirus, Kidron explained, as opposed to the single spike protein targeted via the Moderna and Pfizer vaccines. As such, “this vaccine should be much more resistant to COVID-19 variants,” Kidron claimed.

This video covers something Queenie mentioned - the vaccine efficacy rate can't be directly compared since they did their trials at different periods. Pfizer and Moderna were earliest and done when there was lower spread and less variants.

The great news is that not one fully vaccinated person was hospitalized or died during the trials of any of the [Pfizer/BioNTech, Moderna, Sputnik V, NovaVax, Johnson & Johnson, Oxford/JAstraZeneca] vaccines.
