First meeting between these two schools.
Cyclones have never taken down a #1.
I'm going with the Twister Sisters (Ashley and Aubrey Joens) and Iowa State.
Darn, will have to get up early for this one 7AM HST.

| Iowa State G Ashley Joens leads the Cyclones with an average of 31.3 ppg and 10.0 rpg in 3 games on the season. She has to be the leading scorer in WCBB, or is within spitting distance of it. How she plays in this game will decide how her team plays......

Gamecocks extend their lead to 44-30 at the halftime break. Still shooting solidly, and rebounding strongly, but they are fouling a bit much - no one has more than 2 fouls, but almost the entire starting unit has 2 fouls each. The Cyclones shot 7-8 at the FT line, compared to the Gamecocks 2-2.
Ashley Joens is the real deal - she's well on pace for her per-game average, with 16 pts in the 1st half. But she shot 6-14 - the rest of her team has shot 5-19 thus far....

A big 30-pt quarter gives the Gamecocks a 74-52 lead after three periods of play. The Gamecocks are smoking hot from the 3-pt arc, shooting 12-23 behind the line. Have no idea why they couldn't hit their shots at home against NC State, and then come out today red hot like this....
Joens with 26 points through 3 quarters - exactly half of her team's scoring all by herself.....

Gamecocks play an ugly 4th Quarter with lots of fouls and turnovers, but Iowa State also has a poor Qtr., and USC wins 83-65.
G Zia Cooke leads the team with 19 pts and 4 assists. P Aliyah Boston added 13 pts, 15 rebounds, and 3 assists, G Brea Beal added 13 pts and 4 rebounds, and G Destanni Henderson added 12 pts, 7 assists, and 4 rebounds. F Victaria Saxton contributed 9 pts, 9 rebounds, and 3 blocks...
Ashley Joens for Iowa State scored 32 pts on 11-22 shooting. Pretty impressive....

| 13 drilled from behind the arc by Carolina, they played with more control. A nice bounce back from that NC State loss as the Gamecocks looked like a real top 4 team today. I expected the rain of threes to come from Iowa State. Ashley Joens needed help, not bricks from her team mates.
