Australia dominating early. Patty Mills on fire in the first quarter. Delly dropping dimes left and right

Shocked Very Happy Looking forward to watching the replay of that one. Did not expect that result!
First time the men have won their opening game at the Olympics since 1996.

I love their movement and setplays. Constant movement and backdoors. Delly has great chemistry with Bogut so that helps aswell on those alleyoops

Wow, this US-China game is just ugly, sloppy, garbage basketball. But the US is so much better they're up 26-10 and can roll no matter how they play.

And Collins is providing commentary as if they're playing good well coached ball. Come on Doug. You never played like this in your entire career.

Pure athleticism. China has no chance.

Now 30-10 at the end of the first Q after a 26-6 run.

I always find it funny when USA players are calling for travel calls on the other team Laughing

Halftime, it's 59-30.

Well, at least there's been a couple of fun ally oops. Rolling Eyes

Every US player except Kyrie Irving has scored.

US shooting 51%, China 38%.

I have six channels of Olympics on DirecTV at the moment, and three of them are showing this basketball game (one in Spanish).

Wish they'd find some other events to show.

These games are never fun. Same for the USA vs Senegal game on the womens side. Im looking forward to seeing USA play against teams like Spain, Australia and France.

119-62.

I think Spain is the only team with a chance of keeping it close, and it's probably not much of a chance.

Croatia takes down Spain.

I'll amend my previous statement. Nobody is going to challenge the US men.

Spain miss Marc Gasol and Ibaka that's a big hole in your post rotation.

Dellavedova is playing out of his mind right now for the Boomers. He is going to be fun to watch with the greek freak and Parker Shocked
After 10 assists in the first game against France he just now had 23 pts and 13 assists in a good game against Serbia

US leads Venezuela 22-20 less than 8 minutes to go before the half.

Really ugly game. Turnovers, fouls, whistles, and lots of 1 on 5 play and bad shot selection by US.

Just bad play.

"unsportsmanlike" technical foul on Venezuela's reserve center who just grabbed Durant around the shoulders as Durant simply ran past him on the baseline.

The US will win because they are simply more talented, bigger, faster, deeper, more skilled, and can shoot, no matter how ugly they play, while Venezuela just can't score enough points.

As halftime approaches they've blown it open to take a 20 pt lead.

And if Carmelo Anthony played in the NBA the same way he plays in international competition, he'd be a better and more respected player. He's a much better teammate here.

Halftime, the US now leads 48-26.

I'm so happy for Paul George. Glad he's on this team.

Slow, sloppy start, but then the US rolled, and won 113-69.

Tied after one Q, 44 pt win after four.

USA vs Boomers will be a fun game if Bogut can stay out of foul trouble. Problem is they cant the SF and PF spot of USA. Ingles cant guard Durant ofcourse and Baynes cant guard Melo.

We'll get smashed by the USA even if we do try our best (but I hope we don't try our best, purely because we rely heavily on Delly, Mills & Bogut and should use that game as an opportunity to rest them) mostly for those exact reasons you mentioned. Size/quickness is a problem for us at most positions against the USA, as is our depth.
But we're a great chance to finish 2nd in our pool and give ourselves a shot at someone beatable in the quarter final.

Yeah, we've gotten away with him being our backup guard so far in this tournament, but were never going to against the USA.

29-29 after the first quarter. The question will be how long will the Boomers keep it close? And when are they going to rest their players?
