I am trying a new feature this season, a brain dump of what goes through my head when I see a boxscore. This list will be updated as teams start their seasons and players join:
http://www.womensbasketball247.com/2021/09/2021-22-overseas-roster-reference/

Lots of players missing, but the Spanish Super Cup starts the season because Puerto Rico's league is still designing their website so they have no stats yet:

Off the top of my head the players missing from Valencia v Avenida are
Valencia--Becca Allen
Avenida Katie Lou Samuelson, Karlie Samuelson, K. Copper and Bella Alarie.

Did I miss any that you know of?

Um, are they seriously playing the Supercup on Tenerife, while a volcano is erupting on the island nextdoor? Seems like that might've been a good time to hold it on the mainland...

I think you got the players on the finalists. Notable listed senior roster players missing for the other teams include Laia Palau, Frida Eldebrink, Kennedy Burke, Michaela Onyenwere, and Maria Araujo for Girona and Megan Walker, Atonye Nyingifa, and Angela Rodriguez for Tenerife.

No relaxing for the winners. They have a Euroleague qualifier game tomorrow/Tuesday in Schio.

How is it that they decide who has to play through the qualifiers for Euroleague and who is in automatically? Schio and Bourges were nowhere close to being the worst teams in Euroleague last year (ahem, Riga...), so what criteria makes them "less worthy"?

Determined by the team's national league play and the country's results overall. I am not sure if this access list is for this season or the future:
http://www.fiba.basketball/euroleaguewomen/21-22/country-ranking
http://www.fiba.basketball/euroleaguewomen/21-22/rankings-principles

Schio is no longer the top team in Italy so they failed to win the championship there. Bourges was upset in the playoffs and France and Spain choose to award their second direct spot to their cup winner, which is also why Valencia has to qualify and Girona was given a direct spot.

Thanks!

(Your quick summary was approximately 1 million times more clear than FIBA's attempt at an explanation)

EuroLeague Qualifiers:
http://www.womensbasketball247.com/2021/09/euroleague-qualifiers-day-2-september-22nd/

Two games still have to be played, but no effect on who actually qualifies for EuroLeague.

FIBA's YouTube channel did end up having both EuroCup qualifying games even though they were not linked in advance. Thursday is a busy day with one series starting on Friday and the last one on Tuesday so they may have more to watch.

Researching for this roster reference has led me to wonder whether Karyn Sanford was born in Norway or not.

EuroCup Qualifier videos this week:

It seems like the German league always has trouble with stats for the first week. I have no idea whose fault it is so I am blaming Eilidh Simpson.

I know that people were calling shenanigans on Hatar's disappearance before the end of the season from Indiana. Seeing her get solid minutes a week after their last game does at least make me wonder.

The German league finally acknowledged their issues and uploaded images of stats for 5 of 7 opening weekend games so hopefully there is a reasonable schedule for providing all of the other information.

awhom111 - thanks for always posting these reports.

Do you know the significance of "Dynamo" in the naming of 3 of the Russian teams? Is this a sponsorship type of thing?

Dinamo/Dynamo dates back to the Russian government originally, and you'll see it attached to sports teams all over Europe, especially the old Eastern Bloc. These days it doesn't mean much any more, it's just a name. Not a company sponsorship or anything like that.

Germany Round 3:
http://www.womensbasketball247.com/2021/10/german-league-round-3-october-3rd-3/

FIBA's YouTube channel completely disappeared a few days ago so there are no links right now for this week's EuroLeague games. One game a day is supposed to be shown on Facebook and Twitch, but who knows about the rest.

Spartak also used to mean more and the all of the clubs of the same name do still have some positive ties with each other, but the Dynamos are no longer considered the clubs of the secret police or domestic security service. The rest of Spartak Moscow disavowed the women's basketball team, which is why their name looks funny in official terms.

Israel is another place where there are historical meanings behind the club names which are part of larger sports societies like Maccabi, Hapoel, and Elitzur, but the uniformity of political views and stuff is not quite the same in most cases as in years past.

But that's apparently how they started out. Wow - that's an interesting tidbit. Thanks for that.
