I think Luuuc should start a separate WNBL thread for updates. I think they could be a more prominent league with the upcoming WNBA prioritization.

Hannah Sjerven to play for the Flames next season.

We will see if they come up with the money, although year-round summer has to be a draw for some players.

Since Sjerven is a friend of this forum, I certainly hope that Sydney's import spots are less cursed than the Defense Against the Dark Arts teaching position. Signing Mangakahia to play with Heal will be weird at that level even though they are doing a reasonably good job of playing together with the Northside Wizards right now.

Speaking of prioritization, Spain's proposed schedule for next season would have the playoffs run as late as May 11th:
https://www.feb.es/2022/5/28/baloncesto/aprobados-los-calendarios-las-ligas-2022-con-plazo-limite-inscripcion-hasta-julio/90189.aspx

For 2023 at least, a lot a will depend on when the WNBA actually starts the regular season. They will not have the back end constraints, but maybe teams like opening camp shortly after the draft and would target another early May opening day.

I wonder how much the new Mexican league is paying players compared to the men's teams that are affiliated with the new clubs. Alexis Prince and Sasha Goodlett joined the team that Elissa Cunane was on in her absence.

As always, thanks for all the work you put into this, awhom111. Would be a giant pain in the ass trying to keep track of this stuff without your efforts.

You're welcome.

Men's basketball in Russia finished over the weekend so between their foreign players and the ones in their men's soccer leagues, hopefully everyone is out safe and in a position to play elsewhere next season without sacrificing financially.

Rennia Davis is the latest player who was recently on a roster to play a game in Mexico.

Stat-padding has been rampant all season long in NBL1 (yes, Cayla George, this means you), but Tiana Mangakahia is on another tear in her last three games.

She had 41 points, 10 rebounds, 12 assists, and 6 steals. Then she followed up with 39 points, 12 rebounds, and 7 assists. Her last game was 34 points, 6 rebounds, 14 assists, and 9 steals.

No triple double for Mikaela Ruef, but she did manage 50 points & 25 boards today.

A rare Game 7 in women's basketball as the new Mexican league finished their season:
https://lnbp.mx/?&~w=f~eJwlyz0OgCAMQOGrmM42oRT5cfcEnoBCO7kxGu9u0PFL3rthwL6AC9nHWgXFvCGRNsxcPLJ5KkGisBZYF7hmrAOPc8o-qTFRaGjd6r9Wdg5JolMLqae0wfMCXqcafg

I wonder how good Mexico was at getting passports to eligible Americans at a young age because based on the young players in the league, they could have had a solid wave of them at the same time if none of them count as naturalized on the national team level.

Newly promoted Greek side Panathlitikos signs rookie Jade Williams. I can think of at least one poster on this board who was clearly not consulted on that.

The NBL1's hoovering up of decent clubs in Victoria has had more and more of an effect on the state's next level league. The Hume Broncos only fielded five players against Wyndham over the weekend and Amelia Guest fouled out with 57 seconds left to get at least a little rest in their 121-43 loss.
