Must be a Pac-12 alumnus hosting ESPN Sportscenter. He just said that two teams from the conference of champions would be in the women's final.

This will be the Pac-12/-10's first champion of the NCAA WBB Tournament since the '91-'92 Stanford team. Whether or not the title drought will be over for Stanford individually, the title drought will at least be over for the conference on Sunday.

This should be a good game. I picked Stanford to win. But, let's see if Arizona has found a way to not get blown out like they did in their regular season games.

Would've loved to have seen a SC vs AZ final.

South Carolina and Arizona would have been a first-to-40-wins game. I think I'm okay with not seeing that, and I do love me some defense.

Arizona is the first alumnus coached team to reach the finals since 1998. The last one to win the championship was in 1988.

I think Arizona will struggle with Stanford’s offensive weapons and size.

Stanford 75-58.

People have referred to their regular season meetings as "blow-outs" but that's only really true of the January meeting which Stanford won 81-54. The February meeting was only 62-48, and tied after the 1st quarter.

I worry Arizona will have poured every bit of energy into the win over UCONN. Stanford knows Arizona inside and out and I don't see this game being all that close, actually.

I'm not mad that either of these teams will win.

67 year old Tara Vanderveer would be the oldest coach ever to win the tournament

44 year old Adia Barnes would be the youngest since 2006

Man I hope we can finally get a pretty, fast paced Stanford offensive game that I can enjoy watching over and over for years to come. The last few sure haven't been that. Well, 2nd half of Louisville was fun to watch.

Not sure how to figure this game, which makes it intriguing to me.

Two Stanford wins this year...familiarity should mean no surprises, each understands what the other, and themselves, can do.

Add the "it's difficult to beat the same team 3x in a season" folklore.

Established program/all-time wins leader vs reborn cellar-dweller/young turk coach

All the fixins for a good one.

Maybe?

I'm staying away from it, wager-wise.

Are you sure? Pilight just put the jinx on Vanderveer.

Arizona's biggest strength is their defense, plus the additional element of surprise their defense has had on the teams that aren't used to facing it (UConn, Indiana, and Texas A&M most recently). Their defense will still be good but won't have the element of surprise against Stanford who has seen it multiple times this season.

That being said, I think it will take an above average shooting night from AZ combined with a below average shooting night from Stanford. Both of which have been happening in recent games. So Stanford is the favorite but AZ clearly has a good chance.

Not really. We've been trending towards older coaches for a while.

From 1982-1992, the first 11 NCAA tournaments, nine were won by coaches in their 30's (Conradt and Barmore were the exceptions).

From 1993-2005, 11 of 13 tournaments were won by coaches in their 40's (Peck and 2004 Auriemma were the exceptions)

From 2007-2019, 11 of 13 tournaments were won by coaches over 50 (Staley and 2012 Mulkey were the exceptions)

Should be a stiff but comfy win for Genghis Tree.

They will not be surprised by AZ's defense or McDonald.

They will not play a dopey offense where their bigs are all out by the three-point line with the ball out of the hands of their best shooter and ball handler.

They, and their bigs especially, will not blow 15 of 22 layups.

They will not fall apart when faced with, and apparently be unprepared for, ball pressure and traps off screens.

They will not be bench crippled when a big gets 2 fouls. Au contraire, that's just throwing Br'er Rabbit into the briar patch.

They will not play a lineup where four of the five players have almost no chance of making a three-point shot.

But, of course, I hope Genghis Tree does all those things. Go AAA!!! (Adia-Aari-Arizona)

I like wordplay, rhetoric, nicknames, metaphors and similes, so I appreciate two rhetorical comparisons that describe tournament Aari McDonald.

In the UConn scout of Arizona, Jamelle Elliott succinctly reported that they were going to face Allen Iverson.

Topping that with a more recent referent, Nancy Armour called her Arya Stark.

Orrrr....he's just *Informed*.

Stanford leads the nation in any university with the most NCAA championships. (123)
2nd place? UCLA.(118)
3rd place? USC. (107)

I think that 'bout nails it. Cool

Love the whole AZ story, but....I gotta root for the Trees. Tara has unpretentiously served for too long to be denied again, in this later stage of her career.

Sentiments aside, I don't quite see how AZ can do it, unless there's hellaciously one-sided reffing, etc.

I think Barnes is probably the one with the list of names, not McDonald.

If Tara wins this, does anyone sense she may call it a career and leave Kate Paye with the reigns while they have top talent returning (but perhaps not UConn or S. Carolina level next season).

If Tara can snag that elusive title and go out on top, it would seem very Tara-esque. Similar to what Stanford Volleyball’s John Dunning did when Stanford won it for the first time in awhile a few years ago.

Hoping Arizona, expecting Stanford.

I mean, we need new blood at the top of WCB. We need a black woman to win another championship.

SO, if you're woke at all-

Is it too late to just call this game off and have these two teams considered co-champs? Embarassed I'm not really in the mood to see these teams risk a tough injury out there, or just see one team/star player(s) have to go home sad lol.
