Disappointing first half. We shoot 48% from the field and 55% from 3 and trail because of turnovers, poor defensive rebounding, and being out-intensed/out worked by Baylor. I feel much more like I did during the Tennessee game than the South Carolina game.
Paige has no assists and looks sped up. Evina and Christyn need to be better defensively and on the boards. Officials need to be better on the clear and obvious calls (e.g., Didi with both feet in the restricted area on the charge on Aubrey). Hopefully Aaliyah can stay out of foul trouble, but that doesn't feel likely. She needs to spend the offseason working on boxing out and positioning for defensive rebounds.

Paige probably needs to take more shots? |
Most of her shots have been in transition. She hasn't done much when they've been in half court.

Also, Landers very correct about UConn losing badly on Baylor's O boards. That's largely due to the absence and foul trouble on Edwards.
With two fouls on ONO and Edwards and none on Baylor's front court, things are looking a bit lugubrious for UConn. They had the swag but Baylor crushed it. |

Egbo has improved amazingly thruout this season. Very impressed. |
She looked terrible against Michigan, but certainly looks good tonight.

Well, at least we get Aaliyah back in the second..at least for five minutes. |
May you be right, because it took less than that for her to get two fouls in the first half...

Accurate! My neighbors are probably wondering why I'm yelling.

Best player on the floor so far! Her intensity has been tone-setting, too.

UConn defense not up to snuff. Very physical, and UConn losing on TO's and committing fouls as a result. ONO still a wimp finisher against contact. I have no memory of Carrington being this good at Stanford. |
She was very good before getting injured. We expected her to be the best player on the team her senior year.

The only positive I feel right now is that we're only down 3. It feels like 15.

Smith is the one Baylor player I can see as a legit star in the W since Griner.

You’re running out of timeouts, Geno.

Those options are worse. Although at least Anna spreads the floor.

As with every UConn loss, I'm wondering: Where's the leadership? Where's the coaching? What are we trying to do on offense? Why does everyone look so tentative?
Nika's fire would be helpful in this game.

UConn has never faced a defense or offensive rebounding this good. I don't really expect them to recover because they can't get any of their usual assists and they can't win against Baylor with individualistic streetball. |

Griffin is a liability in this game.

Her shooting, ball handling, passing, ability to harass Didi the whole game..also means we don’t have to play Griffin or Anna much. And yeah, the energy..
I didn’t think we could get to the Final Four without her.

LOL both feet in the restricted zone. That would be a blocking foul on Didi. |
So when it's GT in the restricted area, it should be an offensive foul on Boston. When it's ANYONE playing CT in the restricted area, it's a blocking foul.
CHECK!!!

Andrews isn’t anywhere close to ready to perform at this level.

I hate this. 10 point lead cut to 2 after a PG and best defensive player on the floor goes out. Even if UConn won I'm not sure how you could really feel good about it.

Now is the time that when you never play your scrubs, it can bite you when there is an injury. Looking at you Mulkey. But I guess the same can be said of Geno....just they haven't seen an injury.

She's really made it hard on Bueckers. Bueckers still has 20 because she's that good, but Richards has kept her from facilitating like she usually does and her points haven't come easy.

All taped up and back in. They’re saying right where the hamstring meets the glute. I’ve had cramps there and you can’t get rid of them.
