Posted: 03/15/21 4:40 pm ::: The 2021 Oscar nominations |

Nominations were released earlier this morning, and the nominees are mentioned in this weblink.
The ceremony will take place in-person at the Los Angeles Union Station and the Dolby Theatre on April 25, after being pushed back from its original Feb. 28 date.
That's right: a train station will be one the sites of the Oscars! I guess because it's spacious enough for social distancing.

I've seen Trial of the Chicago 7. It's on Netflix.

I am seriously stanning Promising Young Woman. It's available to rent, and I thought it was really great.
Most of the others are available on different streaming services.

Nomad Land on Hulu.
The damn pandemic has "forced" me to catch up on some 50 movies. Might as well make use of the service as I always dump it when March Madness ends.

Minari is $20 on Prime. I'm a huge Steven Yeun fan, but I resent paying that much for something on a service that I already pay a fee for.

I've never seen any of the nominated movies. Nor even heard of them, except for the Chicago 7. Never heard of half the actors and directors either.
I have vivid and fond memories of the 50's and 60's when every one I knew had seen every nominated picture in movie theaters, and most of the nominated actors were huge stars who were constantly splashed in the many popular movie magazines that were available in every grocery store, candy store and news stand.
I'll watch any of the nominees if searches find critical reviews favorable to my tastes, which hasn't been the case very often this century. Most movies are junk, and Hollywood is on increasingly irrelevant life support. |

Not one of the live action movie nominees holds any appeal for me to see.
I do want to check out that animated movie Soul, but won't see that until it shows up on regular PPV not that blatant ripoff artist Disney+. |
