It's been a close game so far - a lot closer than their matchup in Philly when MU won big. Marquette had a few big steals late in the 2nd quarter to pull away a bit and lead 29-22 at halftime.

Marquette escapes in this one 65-57. Selena Lott led Marquette with 22 points, 11 rebounds and 6 assists. Bridget Herlihy led Villanova with 19 points and 6 rebounds.

This was a big one for Marquette to put a little space between them and Villanova in the BE standings. Villanova has a much easier schedule the rest of the way at Georgetown and Providence and home to Seton Hall while Marquette plays Creighton at home Monday (a game they should win and need to win) but at DePaul and at UCONN to finish the season - two teams they already lost to at home. There's a chance MU could upset DePaul in Chicago but it will be tough for them - honestly I give MU no chance of the upset at UCONN.

Marquette has played 3 more conference games than Villanova. According to tonight's broadcast, the conference standings will go by winning percentage to account for a different number of games played on the season.
