Iowa is only Power 5 to not have someone in portal since it began

Holy Cross, Navy, Samford, Southern, South Dakota State only other teams to not have someone in portal yet.

There are some teams that have had only seniors this year go in and technically exhausted "eligibility"

Don't think this is true. In the P12 alone - Washington State, USC, and UCLA? Anyway I haven't found any of them on the list. https://wbbblog.com/womens-basketball-transfers-fall-2020-summer-2021/

Limar'i Thomas from Cinnci to UCLA. I think that's a good get for Cori Close.

And a personal fav from Fresno State, Maddi Utti in the portal.

As you know I was an early booster of hers, but please note, her name is Iimar'i Thomas, not Limar'i Thomas. I am really excited to see how well she will be able to compete in the Pac 12. Her height may be a problem but I wish her the best in Westwood.

I think the original comment means historically (not just this season). That is, since the NCAA implemented the transfer portal a few years ago.

Yes, that is what I meant, the Portal has been around for 3 years so since it began every Power 5 team except Iowa has had someone in it. NC State was 2nd to last Power 5 team to have someone go in.

UCLA had 2 in each of years prior
Washington State had 2 last year and
USC has had plenty including Shalexxus Aaron to Syracuse just a few weeks ago

Two of Purdue's former starters have found a new home:

Fatou Diagne (6'4'' C) to Houston.

Kayana Traylor (5'9'' PG, 2nd Team All-B1G) to Virginia Tech. Interesting that two of the better PG's in the B1G in Diamond Johnson and Traylor have ended up in the ACC.

I think this year it would be easier to note what schools haven't had someone enter the transfer portal than the ones who have. It seems like there have been a large number of entries into the transfer portal this year.

Not only has NC State gotten Diamond Johnson from Rutgers, they also got Madison Hayes from Mississippi State.
https://gopack.com/news/2021/4/8/womens-basketball-wolfpack-adds-transfer-madison-hayes-to-roster.aspx

Savannah Samuel, freshman G from Oregon State, has landed at West Virginia.

And Iowa State grad transfer Madison Wise has gone to IUPUI.

Danielle Patterson, former McDonalds All-American, to transfer from Indiana to St. John's. She's originally from NY so the move makes sense from that angle. Before IU, she played two seasons at Notre Dame, then sat out for 2019-2020 season due transfer rules, then played half this season at IU before opting out of the remainder of the season in early February. With all of that, It's unclear to me how many years of eligibility she has left. It's also unclear to me why she opted out midway through the season. I know she dealt with a knee injury during the year she sat out due to transferring.

After we put three... sorry, four, just discovered a new departure... in the portal, I'm just relieved someone wants to play here.

Doesn't seem too strange to me. At ISU she was a senior who lost her starting position to the new freshmen this past year. Now she can transfer back to her home state and play her bonus year of basketball for a school that is returning its best player in Macee Williams and is a strong contender to win the Horizon league. Her statement also mentioned that IUPUI has the master's degree program she wants to start. And her baby nephew just passed away---she had just gone to his funeral in Indiana right before the NCAA tournament started so she got to the bubble late.

Not to make a double reference that involves the name of her hometown, but one could say that I'm a bit caught off-guard. Razz Razz Razz

It's weird seeing true juniors transfer, particularly if they aren't grad transfers. You spend three years at a single school, building yourself up in your academic field of study (and your sports program as a student-athlete) – only to choose to pack up and entirely switch schools at pretty much the last minute for one, maybe two years of your life. That said, she is of course from Arizona, and never seemed to lock down that starting spot with the Ducks for whatever reason. Hopefully she'll have a better run with the 'cats.

interesting. I guess it gives you another big body and some depth. I don't remember ever seeing her play so not sure what she brings. Her stats are not very impressive, especially the 42% from the FT line! Shocked But 11 rebbies looks good. I'm wondering if she even gets off the bench next year? It's pretty hard for someone to immediately fit in to the UConn regime.

It's official - Cam Taylor who just finished her sophomore year at Marquette is entering the transfer portal - https://twitter.com/cam_24tay/status/1381678495437324296

This is a big loss for Marquette - she had a lot of potential provided she could learn to stay out of foul trouble (that was a big issue in a lot of games for her). She had originally been recruited by Carolyn Kieger but stuck with Marquette when Kieger left for PSU and Duffy took over.

At least she gave Duffy a chance before deciding they weren't a good fit. I'd commend her for that.
